sneaky companions?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:36 am

I've tried out only a handful of companions, Lydia, Sven, the Khajit (can't remember his name), and can't tell if any of them have different skill sets. Does anyone know? Lydia is a walking steel drum. I've noticed that given the choice Sven seems to choose light armour over heavy - but I'm not sure if that was a preference based on actual armour value. And the Khajit totally disappointed me, I gave him a set of steel plate to carry, next time I try sneaking I hear thump thump behind, and he's changed out of his fur and into plate :(

I've been sneaking and leaving my companion behind. Ideally I'd like to be able to sneak and have the companion near enough to come and help when the fight begins. The only solution that occurs to me is to only allow the companion to carry LA. But that would still be useless if they have awful sneak stats. I'm building a sneaky fighter, not sneaky mage, and don't want to waste points in illusion- so I won't be able to cast any invisibility spells on them.

So, without giving me any spoilers, can you let me know if in fact there are sneaky companions in the game - or if the sneak thief drinks alone.

During the DB questline you have a chance to get a certain someone as a follower, im assuming that the person would probably sneak well.

There are some sneaky companions.

As you know, the Dark Brotherhood is available as a faction. They've got some sneaky people you can butter up into following you around.

Strangely, I haven't noticed any Thieves' Guild companions.

Anyone who starts with clothes is a plus, you can hand them gear of almost any type. So, sneaking enchantments. I think Faendal starts with clothing rather than armor.

Spoiler
Cicero
starts with 35% sneaking hat & muffle boots (no Armor Class, though).

You are right, there isn't a single follower associated with the Thieves Guild. Shame, it would nice to have a fence following you around or Delvin as he's the master sneak trainer.

I sneak all the time, I never use companions. But if I was to use cicero, with his muffle boots and his sneak enchanted hat, would he be able to successfully sneak kill people?

Would be cool, two enemies up ahead, I'll take one he takes the other (via the companion command)
