Sniper Headshots : Othor Games

All I can say for people who want sniper OHKs... go to ANY OTHER FPS out there and let us be. Please. You guys have plenty of other games. Let us have our one.

yes, tell them to play bushwookie on a hill if they want to snipe, i rather be a marksmen in this game, use the M4 or the Ground and get Head shots in the front line. :goodjob:

Well i heard the same thing and i do agree that would frustrate players (well most of 'em) Very much not to get one shot kills. Headshot-one shot kills (with snipers) i hope they keep that. I mean, i hate getting killed instantly and i know how you all feel when you get killed in one shot. so... think about
ANd for those other comments, snipers WILL be neccesary in the few open enviroments (dockyard).

I'll have to agree with the developers with not having OHKs in Brink. As a sniper in MAG, I know how frustrated I can make people, as I've gotten about 65% of my kills with head-shots, and though it's always fun for me, a game like Brink would break very easily with OHKs. But I know when Brink comes out I'll try my hand at supporting my team with a light rifle for at least a little while.

What are you talking about? Most people on these forums are glad that there aren't any OHKs. Like I said somewhere else, it would be very difficult to pull off a head-shot with a light rifle anyways, unless the person was standing still (which won't be very often). Having the ability to OHK anything would unbalance the game, and everybody would end up using that weapon.

Hmmm maybe headshots towards medium body types should knock them down temporarily, while heavies are not affected.

Knocking down as in preventing movement for x-seconds would be terrible. Although i could imagine taking a bullet to the helmet might knock the wind out of you blurring or partially obscuring your vision. e.g. The edges of the screen grow darker tempoarily limiting your vield of view not for too long though.

Okay, i watched an interview where one of the programers, (forget who) said that the Sniper Rifle won't offer one shot kills. Does that mean not even with headshots? i mean, seriously, i understand fun but i don't want frusterating. There would really be no point of a sniper if you can't save your buddy with a quick (well placed) pop to an enemy's head.

It seems like you didn't watch the whole thing (unless it was a different video than what im thinking). He even said in that video that this really isn't a sniper friendly game. He said (and im probably a bit off on the exact quote): "Im sorry snipers but you have plenty of other games out there you can play, camp somewhere else."

:) And for my opinion i'm glad sniper rifles wont be one shot one killers.

What are your guys' opinions on giving the SR's (Short Rifles, I know thats what they are) bullet penetration? Not through obstacles or walls, but like through people, you know so the guy behind the one you shot (would have to be directly behind the person you hit) would get maybe half damage? What are your thoughts on that?

I have never once intentionally shot two people at once in a game, its just a happy accident when I do. So to me it just seems like a way to add more luck to the game.

On the other hand, its rather annoying when you start shooting one person, then a different enemy gets in the way and you die before you can take anyone with you. But I still don't think penetration is necessary.

I dont think it would make much sense when the first person is dressed like a tank. As the bullet would have to pierce 3 layers of armor to get into the flesh of the guy behind him. And if it cannot penetrate cover it certainly would not be strong enough to pull that off.

I think the sniping in brink will be sickk regardless of no OHK's because nothing is better than toying with your sniper prey :3, shoot them in the leg and watch them flee in terror, only to be killed later by you after you see them scurry like mice

My thoughts exactly.

But then again, taking that more exp comes from helping your team, who would want to snipe?

I'm feeling an epic sniping duo.

One with a scoped light rifle for weakening them, another with a red dot or something to pick them off as they come.

So why did you even bother posting and dredging this thread up again? Plenty of people who hate sniping hate it for one reason: It's TOO EASY to kill people, there's no challenge in it.

Have you ever seen 80% of the Call of Duty montages on YouTube? They're all filled with "no-scopers" and quick-scopers, which takes no skill once you've practiced for a week. There is no way short of cheating to counter a quick-scoper. Why? Every shot from the bolt action is a OHK.

And if you think every head-shot should be a OHK, go play Day of Defeat: Source and tell me how much fun you have.

I'm liking their decision to nerf snipers and sniping more and more each day. Not only will Brink be more fun for it, but it's also entertaining seeing all the "hardcoe" snipers panic and whine.

Not true, I could snipe/quick scope in MW2 but hated it, it felt like the gun was playing the game for me.

Another thing I hate about that argument is that then a shot to heart, lung, or any major artery should kill you, most people who like "realism" just want kills handed to them, that is until they get shot in the head, then they'll come running to Brink.

The influx of "mainstream" gamers here have made me lean more and more towards buying it for pc and not my 360

If headshots in games were always treated the way they are in Brink and that was "the norm" and then suddenly a game came along and introduced OHK headshots, you would be on the exact opposite side of the fence.

Oh, and sniping isn't hard, just boring. I dislike it because of it's monotony, not because of its learning curve (which is rather small)

I got a double-kill with one throwing knife in MW2 today. That was odd.

I'm feeling an epic sniping duo.

One with a scoped light rifle for weakening them, another with a red dot or something to pick them off as they come.

Oh, I just remembered the day when a clanmate and I teamed up in APB, one with the N-HVR (almost OHK) and one with the DMR-SD (three hits to kill) sniper rifles. We were able to dominate other teams in close combat because we could almost instantyl kill.

Even if you do have to use real skill now. You will be ok, i promise.
