Sniper Perk @ Level 12

Post » Mon Aug 16, 2010 10:10 am

At Level 12 you can get the “Sniper” Perk. The game manual says…

“With the sniper perk, your chance to hit an opponent’s head in VATS is significantly increased.”

Now there is a subjective word if ever there was one, SIGNIFICANTLY like in… considerably, appreciably, drastically, notably, radically, extensively, much or even a lot.

Still don’t know what the hell it means, does it increase your chances by 10, 20, 25 or 50%???

Taking a Perk with such a subjective description could be a big waste, right?

I know, I know I am a bit anol but heck!

It's a 25% increase, IIRC. You're best off checking the wiki for things like this. I agree, it is a stupid way of putting it. Can't see why they wouldn't just give the numbers.

You are correct my man... should have looked at wiki, nonetheless thanks for the reply. I am figuring that a 25% increase would mean an increase on the original hit percentage. Lets say that number is 75% so a 25% increase would make it 93.75 say 95%.

That, to me, makes the Perk worth it in spades!

It's a nice little perk, especially combined with Commando, Better Criticals, and Finesse. Your rifle becomes an implement of mass destruction.

Dude...how do you not know what "significantly" means? Did you go to school when you were young? Or at all?

 He obviously knows what it means. He was asking how significantly the perk improves your chances of VATS headshots. As he stated, the word significant without any further or specific information is subjective. What one person considers a significant increase may be viewed by another as only a moderate increase. That was his question. What does Bethesda consider a significant increase in hit probability: 15%, 20%, 50%, etc.? We now know it's http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Sniper.

Note that the 25% bonus is multiplicative, not additive. So if without it your chance to hit an opponent's head was 40%, the Sniper perk will upgrade the chance to 50%.

Hey Archer,

Thank you for sticking up for me with your explanation to the poster questioning my understanding of the word Significantly.
