Sniper rifle vs SMG

I would like one game where I can sneak up behind my opponent and inject poleo into their system. Knives are pretty messy and wouldn't actually insta-kill with one quick slice.

I really don't understand why video games haven't incorporated portable CNBR weaponry. I know, Modern Warfare 2 had Nova gas, Homefront even has White Phosphorous, and we're all aware of Bad Company 2's super-EMP bomb. Too flashy. I'm not killing for show, I want lethality! I want cutthroat realism! I want smallpox blankets for my enemy!!

And I don't want any bs about the Geneva Convention. What's more peaceful than infecting one guy with Leprosy, then leaving, quarantining the area, and come back in two weeks to bag corpses? I'm thinking about the children here. The 9 year olds who get any video game they ask for. They don't revel in blood and watch people bleed out for simple experience points. Teach them the finer points of war, not the brutality of headshots and throwing back enemy grenades.

Save the children! Tuberculosis, not guns!

.... Doesn't seem like decent additions to Brink.

Nobody knows what the Medic's bioweapon does, or even if it's still in the game. Perhaps it's a weed bomb, or a Charlie Sheen grenade. (melt their faces off!)

I don't need something better because it's mainly a "you try to break into my house and your going to die" kind of thing. ^_^ 1 shot with a REC7 will be fine. In Texas, as long as they come into your house, you can unload as much ammo as you want on them. Comes off  I know but i'm speaking the truth withought sugar coating it is all.

What the hell would you want an assault carbine as a home-defense weapon for, unless you were planning on picking people off as they enter your driveway? If someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night you'd better have a sawed-off or a handgun ready. Preferably http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurus_Judge

Around where I live, when someone breaks into your house, they have baseball bats or a pistol at most and there are usually 2 of them. Plus, fixing your wall because it's full of buckshot (no pun intended) would svck.

I don't know how much experience you have with guns or firefights, but it is much harder to shoot someone while they're moving at close range than Hollywood would have you believe. If I'm waking up from a deep sleep in the middle of the night all groggy, I don't want to be taking chances on whether or not I'm going to be able to stop my attacker before he shoots or lands a blow on me. I'll hedge my bets and save my life, even if it means I have to spend half an hour fixing the sheetrock later. Also, rifles are easy to grab the barrel of, not only making them easy to push away, but you're also risking someone being able to grab the weapon from you. Watch any convenience store security tape where the clerk actually stood up to the robber and got the upper hand.

For simple defense against a home invasion, any old 12 gauge will be fine. Go down to Walmart and pick up a pump action for 200 bucks. Buy a case of birdshot shells and a case of buckshot shells. Load the tube with buckshot, except for the last two shells you put in. Make those birdshot. These will be brought into the receiver first when you [censored] it. This way, if someone breaks in, You have two less-leathal shells to simply subdue them rather than kill them. If you cannot achieve compliance after that, you let them know you mean business with the buckshot.

Also, do yourself a favor and take the hunter's safety training course at your local rod and gun club, and practice at the range at least once a month.

Edit: How could they censor a weapons term on a site devoted to a game about weapons :|

Would you try to rob someone who confront you with a ninjato and a revolver, if you had just a baseball bat or a little M9?

I sure as s*** wouldn't. This guy knows how to use that sword, I don't know how to defend against something I never expected, I'm heading across the street.

Thanks for the help Buckshot. Now to find a safety training course around here......I already have 5 shooting ranges where the farthest one is only 45 min away......

Just be careful. there are no magic syringes that heal bullet wounds in real life.

No but my house is only 3 minutes from a hostpital. Talk about lucky. Besides, I think I have to worry about the recoil forcing the gun to hit me more than accidently shooting myself.....or someone else.....(unless some suicidal moron walks out onto the range)

Spray and pray, baby. (Pro-tip: The guy you're shooting at is supposed to be doing the praying, not you.)

I'd rather have a high rate of fire and relatively shorter reload times over higher damage and greater range, especially considering the action in Brink so far looks close to midrange the majority of the time. There's a lot of cover and a lot of running around to be done in Brink; I think people are overestimating the open environments of Brink.

Here's another thought: if 70+% of players plan to run stealthy Light characters, they aren't going to be found in the open, but in the flanking small side halls and such. Unless you're really good on the no-scope, I'd rather have the more versatile SMG. (That's why it's going to be my Medium's secondary to the shotgun.)
