Snipers *PART 2*

Post » Wed Mar 23, 2011 5:20 am

Since the original snipers topic has reached its post limit, I'm going to open a new one already to prevent sniper topic spam, to keep things centralised in one topic
Keep op discussing snipers aka Short Rifles.

Original topic:http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157370-snipers/

Edit: Trying to clarify WHY I made this topic.

But what for? We've already established the facts of sniping in Brink.

We did that already 5 times.
This is the better solution: one topic, that continues for more months, instead of 10 asking more or less the same question.

I guess that makes sense.

-.- Guys, let me make this clear. The first topic was still going, it's locked due to post limit. I made a second one, to continue the ongoing discussion and even though this one may become inactive sooner or later, we can still refer to it to keep things clean. You would be surprised how much Sniper topics would pop up if I didn't do it. It's not the first time that there's a Part 2 on an active/important matter.
I edited the OP to clarify this as well.

Edit: Oh, and if everyone is like: "Yea we did this already", without reading what I'm saying, than this will get locked, yes.

Ok, fair point. I say we stick all the details here, and leave it for people who want to know. Is there anything left to discuss?

Hipfire on the rifles perhaps? ^^
How many shots would it take (F.e. how many headshots, without ADSing, close range, for each bodytype)

Depends on what type of gun it is. It would be madness if a heavy could survive 2 to 4 headshots in a row.

Will the rifles perform closer to sniper rifles or semi-auto ARs? In terms of hip-fire I mean.

3 headshots would be ideal.

If I manage to kill or incapacitate someone with a rifle I want them to do a wicked flip before they go down

I will link the original sniper topic anyway, because all the talk has already happened there. Just like with female avatars.

I'd consider the light rifles to have a very noticeable spread when fired from the hip, because there is the semi-auto M14 lookalike which should be fairly accurate at any time.

3 headshots would be ideal.

And I think this would be ideal for the M14 lookalike.

So will aiming for the head give you a noticeably faster kill:time ratio?

Yes, with every gun, shooting to the head leads to faster kills.

Wait this short rifle... is it basically a marksmen rifle or something else.

Think of it as a m1 garand (sp?) Semi automatic rifle, or a m4.

True, but some people remain to stubborn anyways.

Hope this as well, even though, light rifles should still remain viable at close range imho.

And I think this would be ideal for the M14 lookalike.

Amen.

You can do that - the marksman-scope is named Snoop-R Scope, irrc - but it won't turn your rifle into an OHK-sniper like in most modern shooters. Also it will drastically reduce your viability on most maps because the game has a great focus on CQC.

Its important to keep some of the more important topics alive mainly because when new people enter the forums if they see a lot of heavy talked about subjects they would both think the forum is highly active and also because it'll reduce having to deal with a lot of the same questions being asked over and over.
