Snipers!

Post » Thu Mar 03, 2011 2:48 am

Neither, its likely one of the two short rifles that light players are able to use. They resemble a sniper, but shoot faster, and do less damage. They don't kill in one shot, even to the face.

Think of it as a "Marksman's Rifle" High power and high accuracy, but not as specialized as a sniper.

Like the FAL from COD or the BR/DMR from the Halo games. Really accurate, high damage per shot, semi-auto as fast as you can pull ROF

The one short rifle is bolt action, so they aren't necessarily as fast as your trigger finger.

What? The one I saw was semi-auto. I want a semi auto, not some bolt action crud that can't be used point blank easily.....

The DSR-1 is semi auto, the SR-93 is bolt action. But semi auto doesn't necessarily mean "as fast as your trigger finger" or else you run into people who make both of their mouse buttons MB1, and spam their whole clip in half a second.

But, rest assured, you can fire it pretty quickly, there's a short clip in the dawn of smart video, where a guy jumps on top of some barrels and starts shooting.

Or simply create a makro.

Anyway, the M14-Lookalike appears to be semi-auto as well, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI4y2P0r7K0&#t=22s.

I'd think that the semi-automatic short rifle (The one that resembles the DSR-1) has a Rate of Fire cap. I don't want to see someone run up into my face with it and use their mouse scroll button to spam half of the magazine. I assume it will, seeing as SD is trying to balance the game as much as possible.

Anyways, please see:

I remember a long time ago, when I was regurlarly posting here, i made a statement about sniping. Can't find it but I said something along the lines of this: Sniping is a support class, not a division of any military. This is why people don't send out Companies upon companies of snipers.

Lol, come on guys this isn't CoD :whistling:

In the war on terrorism, pretty much the only soldiers that Canada sent out were snipers.

Not really.

I agree with Wraith. An A class sniper is one whom is accustomed to adapting to the current situation in the middle of a game and can work in both mid-range and close range while finding it rather easy to stay alive. Most COD players I see are C rank and can only camp while sniping......and get owned by a pistol to the back.....

Well not for everyone. Most people aren't good snipers even if they love playing snipers.

Lots of things to look forward to being a sniper designated marksmen in Brink. No OHK is a going to be a huge turn off but as I have said before good players adapt or rage quit :banghead:

I played BFBC2 last month, and the only two complaints I have are vehicle and sniper dominance. Looks like Brink eliminates those issues. One more reason I can't wait for this game.

Think it would be possible to 2-hit a guy in the head with a short rifle?
