Snipers!

Think it would be possible to 2-hit a guy in the head with a short rifle?

Maybe a light or a medium, who knows.

And one can shoot pretty fast, yeah?

Snipers will be good in BRINK if they know how to aim

I can't believe people still are so infatuated with the "sniper" and think that when they play videogames they are one. Using a bolt action rifle like its a shotgun and being able to aquire/1shot people from far away with aim assists... doesn't make you a sniper. There are really very few games that actually portray snipers... the rest are just action movie recreations. If you are good with bolt action rifles in videogames, that doesn't make you good at sniper rifles, it makes you good at one shot guns vs spray guns.

I think its because snipers are highly specialized soldiers, and playing with a bolt action gun makes people think that if they can use a weapon a sniper uses well... that they are a sniper, and they have skill. But I dunno, it does make me laugh when i see all these "sniper" montages where the sniper doesn't even stop moving to shoot haha, let alone go prone or compensate for wind/distance.

maybe with a damage buff. I don't think they carry that much power.

I believe the general comparison is that you could take a light out with a buffed short rifle if you hit him in the head twice and he had no health buff.

You could actually one-hit kill a Light if the bolt-action sniper (not so sure about the Drognav) was buffed and you hit the Light in the head.

I'm not sure if this is still doable, though, and if it is I'm not sure what level the buff had to be in order to do that.

I feel like you're confusing real life and anologous equivalents in videogames, or at least you think other people are. I don't think because someone slaps a scope on a videogame gun and takes some long range shots that they think they're a sniper in real life. A true-to-life sniping videogame would be incredibly boring anyway.

I suppose if you enjoy hours on end of doing absolutely nothing but staring into a screen, scanning the fake horizon, followed by intense periods of advanced trigonometry and calculus, you might dig it. But then you could always just buy a golf game. :D

Exactly and golf seems more entertaining to me

But this one sniper game for the PS2 called Silent Scope , it's not true to life, but it was very fun

Light long range guys would probably go with the team, then when they get contact they'll SMART up high while their mates are keeping the enemy busy, and finish off the enemies who retreat or duck behind cover.

Heavy ones will probably try to counter-snipe enemies doing that.

True, guns are too quick, you don't get saviour all the tiny bits of emotion, when people die, they show you who they really are.
(Epic misquote)

Then again, sniping isn't about being a real man, getting stressed out, overexcited, or obseesed with ones' own ego.
It's about being a cold, precise, killing machine.

I'm curious about whether Wraith's avatar inspired you to say that, or if it was just pure coincidence. Because the latter would be pretty awesome imo.

It IS a bolt-action rifle; however, it cannot be used as a sniper because it cannot perform one-hit kills.

Short rifles can be equipped with a scope, making them into pseudo sniper rifles, but as syiinstr/havok said they are NOT one shot kills, even in the head (unless a massive difference in weapon and health buffs is present).

Basically, anyone attempting to snipe will be frustrated unless they are okay with softening people up more often than actually getting those kill shots from other games.

BRINK puts more of an emphasis on teamwork anyways, so you wouldn't earn many points for kills; however, it's possible to get a solid amount of XP (perhaps 10-15?) using a light rifle because it does almost the same amount of damage as a shotgun.
