A useful sniper in my opinion stays just behind the main line of attack or guarding an objective from a distance. Anyone who says a sniper is useless in a game has no idea what they're talking about. I've seen a sniper CARRY a team because they are that good and I myself have defended more objectives with a sniper successfully then with any other class.

Honestly it just sounds like your hating on snipers.

I've honestly never seen a sniper carry a team I'm on. I'm sorry if my experiences of playing with top players from other games lead me to this. Of course a sniper is very useful in a game like Halo, but I don't at all expect a sniper like that in any other game. Almost always a non-sniper will have a higher KPM. I would say that other kits are much better for objectives, but this would be very unfair to a sniper. If you could find a sniper who can carry me I would undoubtedly agree with your opinion.

How is an engineer doing more against vehicles than a sniper atrocious? I am actually quite happy with the balance. Will you point out to me where you believe the balance is off?

I'm not talking about one class fulfilling the role it should, but rather about obvious things like the fact that SMGs can be used equally effective to snipers in Bad Company 2 over any distance.

Snipers tend to be the "third wheel" class. They are the class that perhaps can helpful to a team, but are usually not needed.

You rather want to have an extra wheel for your car than an extra jerk inside.

An SMG with bullet spread is not at all effective at much range. You could easily out range it with an assault or medic. Although, an engineer with tracer can be effective at extremely long ranges considering it can spot at any distance. You don't play competitively at all do you?

I honestly don't know a friend of mine who doesn't. It was one of the first things everyone platinumed.I have platinum Gustav, XM8, M16, PKM, M249, MG36, 9A-91, SVU, NS2000, G3, M1 Garand (M1A1), and MP-443. It's not too bad considering how long I took a break from the game.

I don't usually go out of my way to platinum, since I tend to just use the guns I like, so I only have USAS, SAIGA, M60, and Heavy Vehicles platinum. My next ones will probably be hand grenades and C4.

Off topic : I think I haven't got any platinums for my guns since 95% of the time I played the game was unranked ^^

I have heli and heavy vehicles too. What you're doing is what most people should do. It's what I do too. I just got a little tired of waiting to be general so got some quick platinums from Valparapeso. I've never really cared to play unranked. It's so much more fun to joke around in ranked. My stats are murdered from it though...not even 3.0 kdr. :/

The way I see it, all the "sniper rifles" will be like FN FAL's with ACOG's on them (I'm sure that only makes sense if you've ever played CoD).

Kind of like a sniper rifle but still not a sniper rifle.
