Sniping/Aiming and the XBOX vs PC

Post » Thu Mar 26, 2009 9:35 pm

OK, first up, I svck at the multi-player, but I'm throwing myself at in an attempt not to be! Always loved sniping in other FPSs - and even the campaign - so thought I'd stick with that. Yes I know some think it's lame but geting a headshot from across the map does give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

I just had a quick question with regards to sniping and aiming in general on the console. I'm finding it damn difficult to keep crosshairs on a slowly moving target let alone one sprinting around the map! Even a point blank, when not running with the DSG (and using the SCAR instead), I can't seem to aim for ****!

I always played FPSs on a PC and so my question is is sniping/aiming at a distance more difficult on consoles simply due to the inherent lack of control vs a mouse on a PC, or is this primarily a consequence of me svcking? The later is totally feasible but I thought I'd get the impressions of the community.

Cheers,

Cheers,

see, this is why pc should play console vice versa to get a feel for the two. its quite easy to aim on console, you learn and adapt to what your playing with, same with a mouse, not all players who pick up a mouse and keyboard will aim 100% same thing with a controller, but on console games it has something called aim assist i mean you still gotta point and shoot but it helps a lil. its really no different, if you're use to it you would do good. i mean huge gaming event called MLG most of the fps played there are on a console, and they have many pro gamers who aim ridiculously on a controller.. so i mean its just whatever you are use to i guess and it definitely takes time and practice. /end rant XD

Yes it is something to get used to... usually i hate sniping (mainly cos i svck at it, *remembers CS 1.5 - CSS days*) .. thought id give it a go during the crysis 2 demo, pier 17 was awesome for it, so i stuck to honing my sniping skills in pier 17 whereas id go into battle in skyline and use medium/close range guns. You also need to take into account, the map that you are playing, you may be good but if you dont know your way around a map you're screwed until you do.

OK cheers chaps. Seems it's just something I have to get used to; the last console I had was a PS1 so I'm pretty damn rusty! I'll stop watching people like SACRIEL for a while until I'm a bit better as he makes me look more useless than usual! Determined to master this sniping though.
