No, it's basicly like getting a two-shot rifle and putting a scope on it.

i really hate snipers after MoH,most maps have huge vantage points for only one side so it ends up a rock, paper, scissors. "oh you spawned on that side? ok well here i got something for ya *BUH BLAM*...headshot bee-atch."

I wonder what happens when you add the engineer weapon buff and special ammo?

A simple damage-buff will probably just make it easier to two-shot Heavies. And eventually allow you to one-hit-incapacitate Lights. But hopefully that's it.

I couldn't really think of different ammo for a sniper, though, as there is no bullet penetration.
Perhaps some Dum-Dum-Ammo which causes a bleed-effect on the target and slows it down? That's very RPG-ish, though.

Well we have heard of armor piercing ammo.

Maybe things like incendiary or explosive?

I like incendiary, damage over time plus initial damage would be sweet to use on a Barrett.

Would the "sliding" help put out the fire?

Actually it will incapacitate an unbuffed light. Also there are only 2 snipe rifles. Barret (bolt) and dragnov (semi)

There are 2 guns that are light rifles which work similar to snipers and have sniper rifle names. They cannot be one hit kills but they can do a lot of damage. Like 2 headshots kills anyone with the bolt action one. When someone dies, they get down like in Left4Dead games. You have to finish them off before a medic can revive them.

if u want to learn more about the two known snipers go to this link
brink.wikia.com
copy and paste it in ur search bar. then go to weapons then pick the dragnav or the barrett under light rifles. after it loads and u scroll down that is.
It shows you their firing rate there damage and pretty much all you need to know.

Do you know just how much extra extra health the heavy and medium body types have than the light? (how many more bullets am i going to have to put in them?.

I think Mediums have 1 or 2 pips of health higher then a light, Heavy has 1 or 2 higher then medium. In generalistic terms, I can't tell you exactly how many extra bullets it would take to incapacitate them. I'm going to assume (From what I've seen) the difference will be at least another 2 maybe 3 seconds (If you have good aim that is) to down a heavy in comparison to a light. But always remember, It'll always take at least half a clip to down someone, Regardless of body type. But if you're a good shot and know how to control you're recoil, 1 clip will always be enough to down 1 person.

If all the videos of people playing pre-release are even remotely accurate, the only alternate ammo type is armor-piercing; it is a soldier ability which allows soldier rounds to completely negate kevlar (10% damage reduction ability for soldiers or buff from engineer as of the pre-release version) but it can't be given to other players. So alternate ammo would not improve your damage, just prevent it from being reduced. Sadly, no explosive or incendiary unless their hiding it really well.

Purely speculative, but I would imagine that sniping will be effective, particularly for the defending side on some maps; not in the sense that you're killing people left and right, but rather you would be causing enough damage to individual players with your initial shot that they are forced to retreat/hide or risking dieing to your allies or a follow up shot or two. It will probably be more of a fire support deal than some lone hunter hiding with a ghillie suit in the grass or on top of some hill a mile away.

I was joking, although there was talk of incendiary for awhile.

If you're the DMR-type of guy, like me, then you can use a Rokstedi AR w/ COGA scope. It's semi-auto with quick ROF, and will incapacitate in 3-4 body shots. Perfect for the sniper/recon who prefers more closer-ranged combat, but doesn't want to sacrifice their farther-ranged capabilities altogether.

Just for reference because it has come up multiple times
Lights - 120 Health
Mediums - 140 Health
Heavys - 180 Health

The Most powerful rifle in the game, the barnett, does 125 damage

All according to the strategy guide.
