Snowing outside IRL = immediately want to play Skyrim

Post » Sun Feb 05, 2017 7:12 pm

I was playing some Daggerfall this morning, then I looked out my window and saw it's snowing outside. Instantly my mind was just like S K Y R I M

Anyone else feel this when it snows? I just absolutely love playing Skyrim while it's snowing, then going outside to shenanigans about in the snow, then coming back inside to play more Skyrim.

Today's gonna be a lovely day :)

Not really. Maybe I'm odd (in fact I know I am) but I don't really equate Skyrim with "snow." When I think of Skyrim I'm as likely to think of autumnal woods as snow. Heck, I spent an entire game in The Rift once. I've played a couple other characters who stayed in the southern and western areas of the game world and never saw snow.

I get this kind of feeling with Oblivion all the time, though. I live in Oregon and there are a lot of wooded areas nearby. Often when I go on walks I get a overpowering urge to play Oblivion. :)

When I look out the window and see snow, I'm often reminded to play some tropical game, to escape the reality of the cold. I was never a big fan of winter, and the idea of a northern snow-covered land holds absolutely no appeal for me. Even my Morrowind characters spent relatively little time on Solstheim, and I never did manage to complete the MQ of that expansion. My characters tended to gravitate back toward Vvardenfell or to the mainland (Tamriel Rebuilt expansion mod). Give me giant mushrooms over snowdrifts any day. The rude and obnoxious Nords up that far north gave me an additional incentive to avoid the place. For some reason, Skyrim didn't seem like someplace I particularly wanted to visit, and I never bought the game.

The other day it was very foggy in the morning on the way to work. I immediately thought about draw distance and said, "What am I, playing Morrowind?" :P

We don't get snow in my part of ol' Florida, so there is no snow to make me think about Skyrim. When I go out for a walk or run, there are probably more things around where I live that remind me of Cyrodiil than Skyrim, although it isn't a forested area.

Yes you are indeed odd. (Still love ya tho.)

Fair enough. (Btw I've been exploring that Tamriel Rebuilt expansion for the first time and it blows my mind. Was playing it a couple nights ago and I just kept saying "there's SSSOOO MMMMMUUUUUCCHH!")

Ah, Florida, it must svck to not ever have snow, but then again some people hate snow. Where I live snow is rare, so it's celebrated here. But my mom's from a place that always constantly snowed, so she HATES snow lmao.

Ha! I live in South Texas. Hasn't snowed here in years. So I get my snow fix FROM Skyrim.

I wish I lived up north though...
