Snowy mountains

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:43 am

New Vegas had some snowy environments which was a nice change of scenery from the endless desert.

Will we likely see mountains or any piece of land covered in snow in Fallout 4? :)

depends, does boston have any mountains with a reasonable range? I wouldnt mind it either, but I dont want them to shoehorn it in just because.

In real life there aren't any mountains close by but for some reason in fallout there are some right in Boston, as seen in the trailers. There are some in MA, just not as close as Bethesda has them.

well beth has always done some map compresion, especially if it artistically allows enviromental variation, so Im not surpriced they dragged them closer.

Boston now has:

  • a snowy mountain range,
  • a swamp
  • a desert
  • a jungle

Er, just because... :-)

didn't a reporter from gamescon say that the radiation storms produced snow and that during their demo they walked outside to find the ground covered in snow?

I could be wrong but im pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere.

This year the snow from this Winter finally completely melted in Boston just a few weeks ago!

It would be neat if it could snow during the Winter months, especially since I thought I heard rainy weather would occur in game.

I know they have to compress maps, but to basically have Boston sitting at the foot of a mountain is a little dumb especially when you see just how flat Boston is IRL.

You've forgotten Volcano, Ocean Floor, Outer Space and Narnia off that list.

The only mountains near boston would be the Appalachian mountain range. But that's in Western Massachusetts. So geographically no. unless its winter, Boston gets a lot of snow in the winter. But for the games sake Bethesda will probably add some kind of mountains or something

maybe the tectonic plates moved enough to cause mass land/mountain changes?

Hopefully this time around Bethesda can do seasons in a game and have the environment reflect it. That would be awesome.

You probably will see them as the distances are shortened to fit an in-game day's travel

So it DOES snow in Boston.

I wasn't sure. I'm on the west coast, and the last time I was on the East Coast, in April, it was so humid, all snowfall just turned to slush and made everything muddy.

I live in Vermont and Boston got tons more snow than we did this past Winter.

Edit: 110.3 inches of snow!

They definitely added some. As you can see in this pic of the Boston skyline. http://assets.vg247.com/current//2015/06/fallout_4_e3_2015_2.jpg

It also has a flying wooden sailing ship on a Bank and a locomotive thing that looks like a atomic retrofutre steam engine of some kind

I think this would be a good idea. If it does rain, it makes sense that it would be snow in the winter time.
