Snowy weather, deep snow

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:46 am

I am really hoping they implement a newer weather system in game, one with a better particle system that interacts with the surrounding environment more. I'd like it to be able to handle anything from light snowfall to heavy blizzards. Also it would be awesome if they had areas of waist deep snow, perhaps with some deformation effects as you move through it, and leave footprints behind you. Also it would be great to see improvements to trees and foliage with snow laden boughs that occasionally drop clumps of snow from above you. Anyone have other detail they would like to see in the environment?

I live in a warm country, in city on coast. I never see snow, I have to travel for hours to see a small amount of it. Oblivion is just too simple for me ... It looks fantastic, but its just ... green ... I really love snow atmosphere, and Bruma is one of my favourite cities, just because of that. It would be awesome if Skyrim had some special cold, winter, snow atmosphere ... All that you mentioned would be very cool.

There was ash storms in Morrowind, and that was all cool. So why not snow storms in Skyrim?

Well they had light snow fall in Oblvion around Bruma, and while it was nice and atmospheric it was also fairly wimpy. The particles were not really a part of the environment, they were a pre-generated animation that centered on the player (try looking up and walking during the snow in Oblivion and you'll see what I mean, the snow moves with you instead of you moving through it).

Yes, please do add some convincing weather effects, Bethesda. The directions of the storms really made the weather feel really immersive and harsh in TES3.

I would really love for there to be some sections of VERY deep snow, like up to your neck almost.

Better weather and environments all around would be awesome. just look at what the unique landscapes project guys have done lol, Oblivion was sweet, but kinda bland after a while green + plains + plains + green + plains + hill + fort + plains + green + exact same looking fort + puddle arg I can't even type it...
