Social Club for Skyrim?

Post » Mon May 23, 2011 11:50 pm

I know, this isn't Red Dead Redemption, but wouldn't it be cool to have some kind of social club that you can join?

In case you don't know, the Social Club for RDR was this club you could join at the pause menu. You need to be signed into Live/PSN to access it. After putting in an email and password of your chosing, you're now in the Social Club and can now unlock more stuff from doing various activities in-game. Also, you could do daily/weekly challenges that Bethesda could make like kill x amount of dragons.

To me, it'd seem like a neat addition to the game. Thoughts?

I like the social club for RDR and it could work for Skyrim, but all of the Single player purists will come in here and tear you a new one for even suggesting it.

EDIT: See ^^^ but the game would remain entirely single player, do some research before you totally burn an idea.

There is a Social Club. It's called the nerd table at the cafeteria at your school/dorm/place of employment.

TES is about doing and making your own challenges and you unlock new stuff by buying expansions and/or DLC.

As another person suggested, how the hell can I download my DLC? :(

If your on:
Xbox- you get it on xbox live.
PS3- you get it on PSN.
PC- you get it on elderscrolls.com or on a digital distribution site example: steam.

while the Forums isnt the social club, that is a good thing... I understand where you getting at, and its even optional of all things. but I feel it best they not take that route. what so they can be like everyone else? I enjoy Bethstudios because they dont take up these phase additions to their games, what would be the point in the long run? do you hear anything going on for Oblivion now? would they really continue doing such a thing 5 years after its release? I dont really think so and rather they not. they drop patches after a time and don't look back, I rather they not beat an old dog unless their doing something on the grounds of Expansion packs.

DLC's can burn in hell yes. because that seems to be the crux of the desire for social club.

Well it doesn't have to be like the RDR one, it's just an idea they could play around with, sort of like a lot of things they're doing which they got inspiration from other games (Magic - Bioshock, for example)

I'm tired of hearing them getting inspiration from other games, the only thing remotely reminiscent are the way they used Bioshocks weapon and plasmid system as if common sense couldnt detail something similar or better.

none the less as stated its optional, but I dont see the point in the long run, and don't achievements cover the unlock new stuff....oh wait that would be free and innovative, lets charge instead or come up with stuff on the run

It would just make the game feel more interactive and alive to me is all. And there's no multiplayer associated with it, so single player purists wouldn't cringe over it, so I see no harm in seeing this feature included. And I know this sounds similar to Achievements/Trophies, but if you've actually been in the Social Club, there's a notable difference between the 2 in terms of replayabilty.

While I think it's cool in Rockstars games I'd rather TES stay completely offline.

GTA 4 had GFWL+Social Club, and those bugged the hell out of me. Why do I have to log on to both services I don't want to use before I can play my damn game? Luckily they removed the social club requirement a few patches later and we could deal with GFWL ourselves, but I thought it was all unnecessary.

The only community we need are these forums and the modding sites.

NO! KEEP TES OFFLINE!

I have to completely agree with this.

Keep TES offline, with no online garbage or social crap that is found in other games.

TES doesnt need ruining to appeal to whoever likes crap like that. Lots of people still want high quality single player only RPGs without any rubbish online / social features added into the game, and TES is pretty much the only thing they still have.

These forums are already a good enough community for discussing TES, I dont need or want my games filled with social crap for the new age gamers who think that stuff like that is cool.

Think it's a good idea myself, just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it if you want to keep it offline?
