im on xbox and have just adopted sofia but she refuses to leave windhelm. she says all the adoption script such as 'im so happy to have a home' and 'i need to say goodbye to everybody' but just remains in windhelm and sleeps in that little corner.

i've tried everything, leaving cells, returning and coming back but she refuses to appear at my hearthfire home.

Any suggestions/help please?

Also, I have adopted Alesan who lives in winstead manor. for some reason I can't give him anything, when i try the words are all greyed out and i cant select it.

That one may be a bit harder to fix without access to the 'console'. There's a glitch where he may be overencumbered and can't accept any new items, but I can't think of any way that you can access his inventory on your Xbox.

how did i overencumber him when i havent given him anything yet?

It's a glitch that happens sometimes. The game does it to Alesan just as it does to Sofie in some cases. They both get stuck with multiple copies of baskets (flower baskets for Sofie and presumably 'lunch' baskets for Alesan) in their inventories.
