Sold a Dragon Priest Mask, Now I want it back.

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:46 pm

As the title says, I sold a dragon priest mask & now I want it back. I sold it to Eorland Gray-Mane at the Companions so I could pay for smithing training. Now the mask is not in his list of for sale items. I went back to Volskygge to see if maybe the Dragon Priest maybe respawned with it & all the Draugr respawned but unfortunately not the Dragon Priest.

Anyone have any idea's how I can get it back? Maybe a console command? Would "player.moveto" work in this case?

You can use a console command, like if the mask was Krosis
player.additem 00061cb9 1

Here's a list of the item codes for the different masks

Thank you sir. "player.additem 00061cab 1" worked.

actually, I've found that usually the vendor keeps my items after I sell them if they're unique... as much as it svcks if yo'ure not on a pc you can buy it back and never ever make that mistake again... and yeah... if you're one of the lucky few on a PC then player.additem 00061cab 1 will give it to you.

Only Belethor has ever kept one item I ever sold, and that was Halldir's Staff. Besides that, no vendor kept a single item I sold.

It seems to vary somewhat if a vendor will keep anyhting you sell them but, it looks to me that if you want to buy something back, you need to do it before you leave their store. It's happened to me a couple of times where I accidentlly sold something, and I IMMEDIATELY try to buy it back, and usually, all items I've just sold them (even the pots and pans) are in the vendor's inventory. I'm not sure how it's scheduled, (once every 24 hours or whatever) but evreytime I go to a store I haven't been to for even a short while, the inventory is different, even if only a little. So, I would think you would have to buy the item back you want before the inventory is "refreshed". If you leave the store and come back the next day, you're probably out of luck.

There are certain things you just shouldn NOT sell...I have a collection of all of the dragon priest masks I have looted from their once upon a time owners. They look cool, are irreplaceable items, and sometimes I put them on the mannequins in my various houses with armor combinations that I am collecting also. Even the dragon priest daggers I have kept when I come across them. For future plays, just don't sell 'em. Plus they look cool like I said on characters and such. Especially mahes...

Not just that, but if you collect the main 8 masks and then find the nameless wooden mask, you can get a nice suprise item after. But you need all of them to get it.

And the way you get that special item is pretty cool as well.

Never, ever sell something this unique.

If you realize your mistake immediately, don't buy your stuff back at the vendor's inflated prices and incur a big monetary loss. Just load your autosave from when you walked into the shop.

^^^^ This....

While Belathor, Balimund, give me 2/3 value on items it is a very very steep markup since they don't have the money to cover even a percentage of the value of the item. This is why I have a large collection of high end stuff. I accidently sold Krosis once. and reloaded before the sale. It was the item immediately above Krosis that I wanted to sell.

True. I'm just saying if you want to buy it back (let's say you have tons of money you don't need), that you need to do it right away before you leave the store.
Then again some people (like me) don't like reloading for such a goofy mistake. I would only reload if I didn't have the money to buy it back. It's a kinda self-inflicted punishment for screwing up.

No I prefer to keep Volsung so that I can explore underwater. So no surprise for me...

It would actually be nice if the shopkeeper told you:No, I sold it to this character, and then you have to go find that person and get it back from them, by doing a quest for them or obtaining it back otherwise... same with the quest item's, they should not stick in your inventory, if you don't realize it's something important and lose it somehow, that's your bad, you would just have to find it back then...

Would be great, but the amount of scripting and thus computer something like that would eat is way more then it's worth.
