Soldier Exp

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:59 am

Will soldiers receive more exp per kill/ hit than the other classes? It seems like the other 3 classes have more objective based tasks and therefore, more exp.

No, they don't.

But Ammo is always needed. ;)

Between giving ammo and blowing stuff up with charges, I think soldiers will be fine in the xp department compared to any other class.

No. And they don't have a significant shortage of objectives overall either, it just depends on how you spec your soldier. Handing out ammo gets you XP, but soldiers also have a good deal to do with demolition based main objectives.

No, because that'd mean all the kill[censored]s would go soldier.

They get satchel charges, which is pretty cool in my opinion.

Soldiers have a lot of things to blow up. Walls, doors, pillars, and a bunch of other obstacles are all in need of a Soldier's explosive touch. On top of that, they pass out ammo. Unless your team isn't shooting at people, there will always be someone in need of ammo. I think they'll be plenty busy with their demolition and ammo distribution work. Not unfair at all.

They will have lots to do, but they won't get as much XP as an engineer or a medic: I'm happy with that (even though i play a sh!tload of COD) - this is not a game for killwh0ring

So they will be handing out ammo, and blowing up stuff. It just seems like engineers, for example, have much more to do; laying down mines, turrets, constructing barriers, defusing bombs, stopping hacks, constructing command posts, etc. Seems a little unbalanced to me... idk. I just feel bad for the soldiers lol :violin:

You have to remember no one's played the complete game with the exception of the devs and the private playtesters. You don't know just how unbalanced it is.

Players performing a "defend" objective get bonus XP.

Doesn't matter which class you are, that objective will always be available.

Pretty confident that with all of the main demolition or destruction objectives, opening shortcuts and any number of other insaneness we haven't even heard of yet that the Soldier will fare just fine.

If any class should recieve extra xp for kills it should be operative?! It's the only class that doesn't have a skill to boost the team. There skills only work on incapacitated opponents or require time to activate. Medics, soldiers and engineers givee instant buffs or boost. Operative has none. lol

It would be really unfair so i don't think that SD would do that,
I kinda worry about medics having anything to do other than heal downed comrades and hostages

Everyone who has played it at PAX has said that the top-scorers have been Medics and Engies- i'm psyched to play Medic.

Yes but ops get much more exp for interrogating an enemy, and they might get exp for pointing out mines and firewalling command posts, you forget, splash damage has been tweaking this forever

The soldier doesn't either. They just give ammo; no boosts. Operatives help the team by firewalling command posts, spotting mines, and using comms hack to show enemies on the radar.

True but there objectives are the hardest and most timing consuming of all classes. Interrrogation, firewalling command posts, disguising, etc. Well they seem to get alot of xp from doing each. Probably to make up from lack of actual instant abilities, they get more xp from the objective wheel.

Have you played it? I don't see operative's objectives being harder than any other classes...I don't think operatives will be lone wolves as much as people would think. Travel with the team, interrogate enemies the team has downed to give them an advantage, spot enemy operatives, have your team protect you while you firewall a command post, spot mines that the enemy may have placed, and occasionally disguise yourself with a body your team has downed.

I was saying each of the three classes can constantly get exp by giving buffs or boosts other than Operative. Soldier: ammo giving, Medic:health pips, Engineer: Weapon buffs.....Operatiive: Nothing. They can utilize just those skills for exp and don't have to do anything else. Operatives skills are the hardest amongst all the classes but, it seems to even out/pay off with the amount of exp they recieve. :)

That is a good point, but, I don't see a lot of Ops being too close to the team since they seem more of the lone wolves and are specialize in frustrating the team. It will be rare to find a Op who uses the team to advantage. Most will run off to do there deeds alone. We are off topic now. It was about the soldier exp! Haha

True. Very true.

I just think that operatives can do just as much (if not more) when they are in a small team or working with at least 1-2 other people to cover their backs. It is a team based game, after all.
