In Fallout 1 the player could select one of three pre-made characters instead of making up thier own Vault Dweller, one of these was a man named Albert Cole, who had a background in being a lawyer.

Could Bethesda be taking the meta in Fallout 4 to such an extreme?

Given all the other style changes to make Fo4 looks more like fo1/2, such as the more green super mutants and the new vault suit design, The Sole Survivor being based off of Albert Cole seems likely.

I'd say it was plausible except for the fact Fallout 1 takes place in the year 2161, whereas Fallout 4 will most likely take place from 2277 onwards. But yes, they look very, very similar.

You could play as a female in Fallout 1 but canon dictates the Fallout 1 Vault Dweller was a male.

Considering that Vault 111 could be expressed as 1^3, or (1)3, some of the presets for FO4 could very well give a nod to some of the presets in the original that had vault 13.

Yeah, nobody's doubting that. It's just interesting that there are these parallels with the promotional Survivor and one of the canned protagonists in the original Fallout.
