Sole Survivors Backstory

I hope I am not the only one who would like to see it expanded upon or become at the very least more important in the future. Especially as Nate being a 200 year old Army Vet seems to be quite an absurd story, and people seem to not care. And Nora being a Lawyer is cool but seems to only get a couple easily missable comments in passing. If they are going to have backstories it does not tread on player choice to expand upon it a little more.

I mean whoever they were before the war, we shape who they are after.

It seems like people are not even slightly interested in what the world was like before, and those are some good opportunities in of themselves to expand a bit!

Also who else noticed that Nate and Elliot from mothership Zeta are both part of the 108th Infantry and served in anchorage, both being cryofrozen. if your gonna make such to the letter link i hope it is expanded upon in some way!

Most people would probably be against it, but I wouldn't mind them expanding on their marriage.

The worst mistake about the opening sequence is that you don't get to develop an attachment to your son and spouse before seeing them taken from you about 15 minutes into the game. If I'm going to have my character freak out about what happened, I at least want to feel the same way.

It does not need to be like quests, but more mention would be cool, whats the point in having an established backstory we did not choose if it serves no purpose.

Plus its cool, only fallout game where you were pre war, could give some valuable insight on what life was like, what the war was like etc.

There should always be an element of mystery to the protagonists of games which has character customization. Having Nate in the military and Nora as a lawyer gives a certain level of mystery to them. The best mysterious backstory protagonist in Fallout was the Courier until Oblivion ruined it with the Lonesome Road DLC.

I want the exact opposite of this. I'm not interested in playing somebody else's character. I'm not interested in being in a developer's movie. I play roleplaying games to create my own characters and to write my own backstories.

Yeah, I think they sort of missed the opportunity by not making them the lone wanderer a synth. My girl dropped the vault suit and the wedding ring on the floor before leaving the vault and has avoided every conversation topic linked to Shaun, but people still make references to her background and it is unavoidable in a couple of the main questline conversations. Also you need to advance the main questline to get some of the side quests to function, so references to shaun are unavoidable. This intro is change from being a prisoner or growing up in the vault, but the amount of baggage is quite limiting.

Bethsada games have very firmly set fan based that don't want to have a BackStory even if that backstory helped the over-all Story and Role Play elements.

They would moan and groan all day about how BSG betrayed them if that happened.

So this does limit what can be done story and rpg wise.

I just hate that the female PC isn't officially a veteran. Boys are soldiers and girls are lawyers! What is this?
