Solstheim?

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:27 am

I know it is highly unlikely that Solstheim will make an appearance in Skyrim, but I still think it would be cool if the little island made an appearance in the game. Due to the fact that Solstheim isn't technically part of any province, it could appear in this game just as it appeared in Morrowind and it could be used as a largely Dunmer populated area for the game since the Dunmer are currently residing there after the Argonian attack.

That is the theory. Don't think it's ever been stated outright, has it?

Anyway, I don't think it will appear.

I don't know if it has been explicitly stated, but from what I understand it was mentioned in the infernal city. And to tell the truth, I am almost 100% sure the island won't appear. But Morrowind was the first game I ever really played and Bloodmoon was the first part I ever did so it holds a special place in my heart.

i wouldn't be surprised to hear some reference to it from 'rumors' (or perhaps even an easter egg of some sort).

Explicitly stated that Dunmer refugees have gone to Solstheim in the Infernal City.

Wow, I never thought about this, but it would be a really cool idea to go back to Solstheim. It would be neat to revisit an area we've been to and see how things have changed (especially with a large dunmeri refugee population). If it's not in the game, I hope a modder takes up this idea.

I wouldn't like if the island hasn't changed much. If the landscape has changed drastically and tombs/landmarks/settlements/mines aren't located at the same coordinates then its ok for me...

For me its pointless to do it because i wouldn't like to go there if it is the same / similar as in bloodmoon...

Btw over a period of 200 years a lot can change...

I am certain Solstheim will not appear in Skyrim. I am 100% certain however that some nice folks will make a mod. Solstheim has the perfect size for a large mod, and there's an element of nostalgia :)

Indeed, not to mention if it did appear, it probably wouldn't be all that different from other places in the game. Part of what I liked about Bloodmoon was that it was a dramatic change of scenary from Vvardenfell, in Skyrim, it would just offer more of the same. There was a thread on this subject before, and as I said in that one, I do not want Solstheim to be in the game, nor do I believe it will. I want to explore places I haven't seen before, leave recreating other parts of Tamriel explored in past games up to mods, I say.

I rather revisit Orsinium that borderlined Skyrim than just seeing Solstheim again.

Skyrim and Solsteim should look almost identical to each other in terms of environment. Therefore, I think it would be a lot better to have an expansion of something else... some different environment.

I don't think it will be in the game when it's released, but maybe Solstheim will be included in a DLC. If not, the Tamriel Rebuilt modding team should start working on it sooner or later.

I think it is very likely it will appear. The nords of Skyrim have always had a share in the tiny Island, and it would harken back to great memories from Morrowind.

I would be very happy if they did include it. I mean just think, Raven Rock, the Mortraag Glacier (sp?), Thirsk, the Imperial fort (can't remember the name ATM, Frostmoth?).

I would love if I could visit Solstheim again. Just leave it looking pretty much like as it did in Bloodmoon and don't involve it in any important quests; just have it there for us Morrowind fans to bathe in the nostalgia...

You think the Nords would be kind enough to let them reside in Skyrim? in internment camps?

Completely agree.

I don't care if it's overrun by Dunmers now. Infact, that just makes me want to revisit the place even less. Tamriel has so many cool places we haven't seen yet, why in the world would i want to go back to Vvardenfell, Solstheim or Cyrodiil?

It'll probably be seen in the distance, with invisible walls stopping us from going near it.

Actually, how close is Solstheim to Skyrim? The Tamrielic map doesn't show Solstheim:

I'm guessing it's north of Morrowind's west side?
