A Solution for Faction Locks

Post » Fri Jan 31, 2014 7:59 am

So after a while of reading forums I see that many players are upset about the faction lock. What if they did a phasing of sorts to only allow each of the original races to see/play with original races? Example: If you play AD you will only be phased with Altmer, bosmer, Khajiit and Imperial i guess. You would never see a Nord or Breton. This is just an idea so post your opinions please. Thank you.

Edit: It would be optional.

This would mean the Nord or Breton would never see the Altmer, Bosmer or Khajiit that opt into this system... in Aldmeri lands. Pretty weird for them.

And, that's handing the people who don't like faction mixing a license to segregate. Great way to multiply misunderstanding and resentment

I don't think I can resent the non Khajit/Altmer/Dunmer/Bosmer/Orcs that make their way into the AD any more than I do now.

I don't have a misunderstanding- my entire fiber exists to push them out of MY homeland and MY faction.

@OP yes, in a sense, but I'd prefer servers instead where this phasing was mandatory. I like to actually RP as an Altmer, but I do progression. However, even if I start the progression guild how do you think people will respond to "He's out best DPS, but you're gonna kick out because he's a Nord? Yeah lol GTFO"

In a faction lock server there'd be none of that.

Mind adding that as an option?

You can emulate this already to a degree by forming a guild that restricts outsiders from joining. You'd be phased mostly with them and see few others. I am not sure how alliances between guilds may work or if there is enough player driven options to influence a Cyrodiil phase.

I'd support an option allowing player influence over this as it would help resolve some concerns over this issue. More forced mechanics isn't something I can support.

I love how people against the faction lock just want to jam their opinions down my throats. In any ES game, if I wanted to be something that hated Men, I could avoid them altogether except for killing them when I did see them.

And now you want to force me to kill the RP I've loved for years to subscribe to your agenda.

Well done, jerks.

That won't fly in progression guilds.

It's already hard enough to find talent.

No one said you have to vote/comment. I just wanted to see people opinions. "We don't take too kindly to negative Nancey's"

Considering the phase tech is supposed to be "smart" and join like minded players I am wondering if there could be a few profile options for guilds to choose that could further this refinement. Perhaps a few options in game you can check off that profile your specific play style and even that of a guild. Something like "[x] Apply lore restrictions". It would simply prioritize certain match ups. Not fail safe and not meant to be.

Another could be for like-minded interest in role play.

I gave you my opinion and you didn't seem that glad.

You made a poll thread so you really just want to see everyone agreeing with you, whatever you may claim.

Big No from me. Not even as an option. It's terrible to put barriers in place that actually prevent players from playing with each other on random pickup groups.

That would work better but I foresee a member becoming really well-fit into the guild and then months later going like "Hey....guys, my friend really wants to play with us and he's really awesome, best healer ever. But he's an Imperial so I was wondering...could he join?"

Now if the person really is nice when I say no he might back down. OR he might go passive aggressive, keep pushing, or snap and cause a [censored] ton of drama and take other members with him on the way out.

Having a separate server, IMO, would be best. It would prevent any transgressions.

So what about a separate server where factional boundaries are in place?

Your opinion was rather rude and unnecessary. I'm just proposing an idea. I gave plenty of options to people who don't agree with me. So I'm going to ask you to stop posting on this thread unless it is constructive. Thank you

Well, the way I see it, only altmer, bosmer and khajiit who don't want to see other races can use it.

Nice attitude you have there

Note how most people are saying No and he's fine

How does 'no' sound?

Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.

It's still something that segregates people. I love the idea of the mega server, because then we wont have a couple really popular servers.

But what if people *want* to be segregated, by choice alone? And I think you don't know what mega server means. We won't all be on the same server.

You think progression game play is even supported much in this game? I keep hearing otherwise. Could be a very minor issue. It would be a natural risk of a themed guild anyway because wanting to restrict non-faction races makes it hard to not have restrictions.

This is not the game for those people then.

I know what the Mega Server is. It's impossible to be a single server, but it's a solution to many problems that vex people when it comes to servers merging, friends choosing different servers to play on, character transfers, etc. It's just a nice way to link up everything under one mainframe.

If you really want to stay pure to the original 3 of your faction, create/join a guild that will adhere to that. Seeing other people run around cannot ruin a game that much.

Such tolerant, much inclusion

Sorry for mistaking the original stated goals or hard set faction boundaries that they announced months in advance as the goals for this game and one of the fundamental reasons why I purchased it.

Seeing other people run around DOES RUIN A GAME THAT MUCH.

I play TES games for the [censored] LORE.

I can only go so far with a response. Eventually you'll hit where my inclusion ends. It just seems too difficult to offer reason when it comes at such off chance.

How is the lore messed up? You are completely sure that you will not run into a friendly NPC of an opposing faction's race?

I RP an Altmer. My goal, my entire life long goal that compromises my reason for being as an extremist Altmer, which there are MANY of, is to keep humans down, below my proud superior race.

Hatred is part of TES and it will be poorer a story for not having it.
