some creatures in the CS appear in knockOut pose. Why?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:55 am

Most of the creatures, appear in their Idle pose. The skeletons instead, have only a walkforward animation and in the cs they appear in the middle of their animation, but the other creatures I mentioned (the atronachs frost and fire, but not the storm, and dagoth ur) appear un their knockout pose, that is not in the middle of their animation cycle.

Do you know the reason?

I think it has to do with which sequence is first in the NIF/KF.

I find that hitting the print screen button fixes it.

I dcan't understand which could cause this. Any idea?

Just tried, you are correct

However, this is not only a preview of the cs, but it is also how these creatures are placed in game using the commands placeatPc and Resurrect. Here is an example with the Bonelord.

This is conjecture on my part, but I bet if you were to look at the original file (or in NifSkope), that would be the first frame (frame 0) of the animation sequence.

Morrowind animations are controlled by the note tags, so any animation can be placed anywhere in the file, as long as it has the right tags. Usually there's some sequence to help blend related animations, but if death were first (and the CS simply show the first position in the file, regardless of animation) you would get the result you're seeing. I'm almost willing to bet it's related to whichever data is position at the start of the file (because the CS ignores animation, except for the animation preview window).

the first frmae of every creature, belongs to Idle or Idle2. THe knockout sequence, is for most of them, near the end of the animation sequence.

The model in xCreature.Nif, is in the Idle pose.

THe creatures I mentioned above, appear in the CS in the middle of the knockOUt animation (during the Loop). I tried also to delete the knockOut group from the xCreature.Nif, and they appear in the CS in their Idle pose.
