Some humble suggestions for a future Fallout game..

Ok...I must now say thanks for the links...that filled in a lot...Fallout bible...damn..makes me shut my mouth about prequel...lol...ok, maybe the next game should be somewhere like NYC...although I still think that would be tough to do without it being tossed in *by at least some* with the NYC disaster cliches...or heck, maybe the next game ought to be set overseas....London, or Paris?

Thank you!

Finally someone to mention Europe!

Since Fallout I have been wondering what the hell happened there. Fallout Wiki and Bible both leave it open to interpretation, but I would be very possible they have felt the same threath of nuclear annihilation and acted accordingly. Would be weird if they also had constructed things as a vault, but since europe has a lot of mountains, hills they could have created some other things.

Just to give an Idea, atm I am working on a fanfic that takes place in Europe and basicly what they did was build huge underwater/underground dome shaped constructions, called Domes. Built By DomeCorp. (I know, it's corny, but some friends of mine read it and the fallout fans that some of them are really liked my subtle and not so subtle references to the Fallout Canon)

Just sprouting Idea's here. But really, finding out what happend to the European Commonwealth would be cool.

Appearantly Fan with the adjective Boy is considered impropriate here... Strange.

Actually given that Europe was the site of most of the major fighting of both WWI and WWII I would not be surprised if much of the populace survived and is rebuilding, due to the large number of bunkers that were already in place from the war years. WWI and WWII both had most of the major fighting in Europe. well..on the GROUND anyway...not to put down the stomping the US handed Japan or the naval battles.

Draconis, I wouldn't like the idea of playing multiple characters. However, having multiple settings like you suggested would definitely be cool. Perhaps have the story envelope different states or countries. While I was reading your post I envisioned the story of a rogue Enclave soldier who has the use of a vertibird for long distance travel. This way, a player could be in a mid-western state for one mission and be along a the coasts or in a different continent for another.

I'd love to see how areas of the world with little military strategic value faired during the war. Sure, the nuclear fallout would still have [censored] them up, but I would assume the buildings would still be intact. Furthermore, it would be nice to see if the war is still going on in some faction or another.

yeah I kinda got that impression too after thinking about it and after watching people's reaction....didn't know that people got that attached to game characters...I just figured it would be a way to freshen things up, especially since the latest game pretty much jumps over 20 years worth of the character's life. I figured it would be interesting to use that phase in and out of someone's life to switch between people in the same timeline...just figured it would be a convenient way to cover more history in one game.

Well I understand your idea, and in Call of Duty it worked great in my opinion however please keep in mind that FallOut (3) is a RPG. We Roleplayers do get attached to out characters, because we take so much time for all things, even as trivial as a name, and really play these games as if we are writing a story (or in some cases, even like we actually "are" that person.)

To me that is the basis of Roleplaying. Pretending to be someone else and make your way in the world the story takes place. Switching characters totally screws up that experience.

Then my apologies to those who I managed to irritate....I was into the whole RPG thing..right up until the D&D group I was playing with disintegrated due to...socio-political stupidity and psychosis..*and when I say psychosis I mean it..one of the former group members is quite literally in the nut house, while the other is about || from being diagnosed dangerously schizophrenic paranoid* but anyway....sorry peeps...

Hey don't worry. It is a good Idea for a fallout spin off like Tactics or Brotherhood of Steel, just not for a sequel.

I'm pretty sure no-one took offense to your suggestions, I for one did not.
