Some Info On The Legion?

Post » Sun Aug 22, 2010 9:45 am

So far, I have searched both the forums, the UESP Wiki, and the games themselves, but I have not yet found a strong guide to the Imperial Legion. I would like to learn more about it. For instance, if each legion constitutes an army, how many soldiers are in it? What is the main fighting weapon of a legionnaire? Any information would be extremely helpful. Also, if this belongs in General, I am sorry.

Why would it supposed to be in general? It is lore.

Try the Imperial Library for Lore, and the UESP for gameplay.

Imperial Legion

The most disciplined and effective military force in history, the Imperial Legions preserve the peace and rule of law in the Empire. The legions have garrisons in the major settlements of Vvardenfell, but the units mostly serve as guards to enforce the law in Morrowind. The legions hire qualified recruits of proven skill and character, and provide training, goods, and services at discounts. The lower ranks are common troopers and officers, but the upper ranks include the orders of the Imperial knights.

They generally wear various types of Steel Armor. They fight with either Blunt weapons, Longswords, or spears, which means heavy weapons basically.

The ranks are Following. The right side of the colon is speculation based on Legion Lore, Roman Ranks, and Modern Ranks
Recruit: soldier
Spearman: Higher-level Soldier
Trooper: In charge of 30 +/- 10 soldiers.
Agent: In charge of 2-4 Troopers
Champion:In charge of 2-4 Agents (Small Legion)
Knight Errant: Oversee's 3-5 Agents (Big Legion) (Following this rank, Knights aren't in the feild. This isn't to say Errants are fighting, but they are in the frontier.)
Knight Bachelor: Oversee's 2-3 Legions
Knight Protector: Oversee's 2-3 Knight Bachelor's
Knight of the Garland: 2nd In command of one Region.
Knight of the Imperial Dragon: In command of one Region.

It doesn't matter, so just make it all up or go with Morrowind's coc, which Don't provided. The legion has virtually no lore, so you'll need to make it up.

My rubric is the http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Imperial_Guard_Hierarchy. Both the legions and IG are quite variable in appearances, chain-of-command, and custom. Each legion has its own colours and its own, favorite god (Daedra included). However, all legions share one prime deity, and that is the Emperor. I would also use the Roman and http://www.tekumel.com/world_lands01.html http://theminiaturespage.com/news/pics/2007/sep/9603a.jpg to understand how political and spiritual these armies are. They are monuments and children of their Emperor, and what can be said about a father whose children are so quarrelsome?

Here's a good example of what I'm talking about:

Anyway, maybe you'll find some of this useful...
