Do some journal entries disappear after a long time?

So, I play Skyrim on the Xbox 360, I have taken 2 characters to level 81, and 1 to level 94. I am now doing a 4th play through on legendary difficulty. I have an obsession with clearing my quest journal of all quests and miscellaneous objectives. On my level 94 character I came very close, paring it down to 2 glitched objectives that I didn't reload in time.

Here's the problem: after my first play through I avoid joining the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild. With my 94, I destroyed the Dark Brotherhood and ignored the journal entry to "Listen to Brynjolf's scheme". After I had ignored it a good long time, perhaps about an in-game year, I noticed something astonishing. It had disappeared!

Now, I would like it very much if this was some function of the game which will repeat itself, or which might be made to repeat itself with my new character. Otherwise I might have to reload my first save in Riften and spend a minimum of time in the city thereafter.

Does anyone have any information about miscellaneous objectives disappearing, or timing out, or anything like that? Was it the result of some obscure and unknowable glitch, or something else?

I've seen it. Doesn't seem to prevent doing the quests, so I assume that it's just a journal display issue. However, I've only ever seen it with long-running characters who did a lot of radiant quests.
