Some Mod Negating Dragon Soul Absorbtion

Post » Thu May 16, 2013 11:48 am

Hi all. I recently decided to try SkyRe and some of the mods that are supposed to work with it, such as Deadly Dragons and SkyTest. When I get to the early dragon quest in Whiterun, I'm unable to absorb the first dragon soul and therefore unable to advance the main quest. Deactivating Deadly Dragons or SkyTest doesn't seem to isolate the problem, so it must be with some other mods. I've used BOSS and the ReProccer. None of my other mods are supposed to target dragon scripts. Any ideas about popoular mods that I need to test?

Here's a list of my mods: anything jump out at you all as something that might cause this?

I'm having the same problem but the only mods I have that you have are SkyUI and the Unofficial Patches. All the research I've done on this claims that it's the Unofficial Skyrim Patch and or the Unofficial Dragonborn patch causing the problem. Some say to put Dragonborn under the Unofficial Patch in the load order, and others say to disable them entirely. I've tried both of these, and disabling them just causes an instant CTD, and the load order thing didn't do anything for me. The only way I've been able to advance in quests that require you to absorb dragon souls is to use setstage commands.

Run BOSS. Get the load order right, then see what happens. Whoever is still telling people the unofficial patches is causing this simply has no clue what they're talking about.

The unofficial skyrim patch causes this if Dragonborn is installed if the unofficial dragonborn patch isn't installed or isn't in the correct load order. (A particular record in a certain script, dragonactorscript, is being overwritten or something along those lines). Similarly, any mod that improperly uses that script will cause the same problem. Reinstalling the UDBP is likely to fix it, since it contains the script. I had this problem twice because I was using mod organizer which has a habit of jumbling the install order. If you are using Mod Organizer, check that the install order of the unofficial patches is correct: Skyrim Dawnguard Hearthfire Dragonborn High-Res

If this is indicative of your load order, then there you have it. Read Enept's post for details. USKP should be first, then the others should be ideally in the same order as the DLC master modules themselves.
