Reading the content that ESRB have mentioned, and the fact that the UK rating is still a 15...... wow.

It doesn't mention drug use in the rating, so no Skooma or Moonsugar in the game? Skooma might be considered an alcohol, but Moonsugar isn't.

Maybe its because they actually say beer. Whereas skooma is a made up drug.

Some people don't want decap. That's why it's a perk.
There could be an http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/IsGoreDisabled function like there was for the Fallouts.

It's not listed under Oblivion's M rating either.

I thought it was 18 in the UK......I'm sure it says on one of the videos or trailers "pegi 18".

I personally don't like it. I don't think decap belong in TES. It's better suited for FO3 themed world.

Huh? IsGoreDisabled and all the other functions were not platform specific. I'm not sure I understand your question?

Edit: Do you mean the part about it being added by a GECK patch? If so, that coincided with official patches across all platforms.

Oh, I didn't know that was an option on the console version. I never noticed it, or disabled it.

I asked pete and he answered

NoBullet NoBullet
@DCDeacon ESRB says there's decapitation. I thought there wasnt any in Skyrim?

DCDeacon Pete Hines

@NoBullet Yeah, it's part of a one-handed perk you can pick that there's a small chance you can decap. Honestly, it was news to me too.

Friggin' awesome! With a game where there's swords and axes and stuff it's only suitable to have the ability to decapitate people.

Well, Alcohol is real, but Moonsugar & Skooma aren't. That might be why

I disagree,i think it belongs more in TES than in fallout( to a certain extent ). Note: I don't want it as OTT has fallout. But given the nature of the world and the weapons we use i believe decap does fit.
Not everyone is going to like it,but i do. After all we are not using feather dusters. :)

Awesome news, thanks OP.

So decapitations as a perk now? That's fine with me. People who don't want that gore don't have to choose it now.
But as for the other gruesome details (heads on a pike, prisoners you can kill), that will sure add a nice dark feel to the game.

And drinking contests? AWESOME. I just hope the tavern brawls will be a flurry of drunken fists now.

Just browsing over this thread has pretty much canceld out what little concern I had that some of the changes/omissions Bethesda has made (versus other TES games) would dampen my experience with this game. It seems to me that a near equal number of people are excited and bothered by this news, i.e. everyone who wanted dismemberment is getting at least a little something, and everyone who though such effects had no place in TES is dissapointed.

Though I have not been on these forums long enough to tell, it seems to me that it's likely that the amount of people dissapointed by Bethesda's various omissions and changes and the amount of people happy with those same changes and omissions is roughly the same. So considering that, I'd say that with the new world, all the various improvements and new additions that EVERYONE seems to like (new convos, more dynamic quest system, better stealth/stealing, map layout, dragons, etc.) seems to me Bethesda has done exactly what they needed to do. I for one, have never been more excited for a game in my life.

It wasn't user modifiable, but was determined by region. I'm not sure exactly what the IsGoreDisable function checks, but it's not a GMST or GLOB. It very easily could be made one though, I'd imagine, toggle-able via the menu.

Set bIsGoreDisableGLOB to (bIsGoreDisabledGLOB == 0)
