Lets do as watchdog did, any platform and retailers get they special preorder bonus,

http://www.ign.com/wikis/watch-dogs/Pre-Orders_and_Limited_Editions

Think it was an excellent idea but should have more variants and larger bonuses.

No no no... pre-order bonuses are terrible. All they ever do is take away content from everyone. When you get bonus from one place you're missing out on at least four from other places. Literally nobody wins in this situation.

No retailer-specific DLC please, if I'm paying 60$, I better get everything the game has to offer at launch.

Did the data corrupt? Damn it. I'll have to call RobCo and ask for some tech support.

Thanks, I can't take all the credit though. I just thought it was funny when a friend of mine was discussing it on Skype. So I put it in my signature partially tongue in cheek over the hype and partially to show I'm hyped for F4. :P

Retail or platform specific pre-order in-game items?

Absolutely not.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that anyone who actually advocates for retailer exclusives is absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt, stupid as hell.

As for pre-order bonuses in general... I don't really care either way. I'm pre-ordering, so it doesn't affect me. It is something I would like to see die out in this industry though.

None, imo.

Pre-order bonuses, and DLC take time away from the actual game, imo.

Not sure if I said it here in another thread or on some other forum, but I'm strongly against retailer dependent pre-order tchotchkes as it becomes guesswork as to which item you might use more and if you guess wrong, you're stuck either buying a multiple copies of the game or being overcharged on eBay for the redeem code which may or may not be still active.

With that said, minor things like cosmetic items or something helpful yet not gamebreaking's fine for a pre-order goodie.

Firstly, English plural of "bonus" is "bonuses". Apostrophe doesn't mean "watch out, here comes an s". To simplify, it's used for possessives, shortened words, emitted characters, or contractions. Note the distinct lack of "plurals" in that list.

And secondly, why the hell would you ever want pre-order bonuses and even different ones for retailers? Are you insane? And even things like cut game content? Wow.

Absolutely nothing like FO:NV did..... I don't see the point of getting "special" better gear at the start of a game where the idea is that you need to scrounge up gear to survive. Kind of defeats the point. Even when they released them for anyone to buy as a normal DLC, I never bothered getting it.

Eh, not always true. But then I don't subscribe to the whole "All DLC is removed content! How dare they sell incomplete game!" thing in the first place.

(Ex: I pre-ordered Borderlands 2. I got the released-later Mechromancer character pack for free. Saved $10.)

-----

I also think that the "but I must HAVE IT ALL!" thing, where people said they needed every FO:NV retailer extra bit is crazy, too. Especially the people who claimed "you're forcing me to buy five copies!"..... that sounds like a psychological problem, honestly.

Either way, I've always seen the majority of games to be "complete" at launch. And little extra bonus DLC are just that.... extra. But, yeah - I prefer physical things like keychains, posters, and mini-soundtrack CDs. Of course, I haven't seen much like that since the 90's.

Plus the pre order FONV bonuses were a pain in the ass for the modding community.

To be honest I thought the New Vegas tchotchke was a nice touch, but at the same time, people were WAYYY too up in arms about costumes that you'd probably switch out after you reached Level 5 or found something better.

I pre-ordered FO:NV from my local independently-owned video game store and got nothing extra.

The game should sell itself without all of these extras. I have never bought a game just for the bonuses but I think it's alright if they want to include something extra (special weapon, outfit, etc.) for the pre-order fans, it should be the same everywhere.
