Some Questions about MP leveling and the HUD - help, please.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:17 pm

So, I searched for this stuff up and down the internet and couldn't really find anything at all.

1. When you level up a suite mode (Armor, Stealth, Power) - not the modules but the modes, whose level is then displayed on your dog tag - does this in any way increase the efficiency of that mode or lessen energy consumption?

Like, say, you start as a total newbie, on your dog tag it says "1 1 1". You play a while, use the armor a lot, and after a couple of games you level up the armor mode, and your dog tag now says "2 1 1".
Do you now have better/stronger/longer armor?

2. What exactly is the tale of those white bars next to the radar on the HUD that sometimes turn red?
By painstaking research I found a few threads that claimed it was some sort of Threat Alert, telling you that you are in the general vicinity of an enemy combatant. I myself rather felt it was turning red when I was in an enemy's line of sight or being aimed at.
Can anyone explain to me exactly what it does, why it does what it does, and when it does what it does?

One would think that stuff like that would be covered in the manual, but it's not, and you would be surprised on how hard it is to actually find any related information on this forum. One would also think that one could figure out these thing by one's self if one wasn't a total idiot, but that's neither here nor there...

Thank you.

1. The related abilities do not consume less energy or buffed in anyway. Each class (Power, Armor, Stealth) can be ranked up to level 12. Each even number gives you an unlock to use in the class you ranked up. So you get a new unlock at rank 2, 4, 6 etc

Armor ranks up by taking damage in Armor mode. Not by just being in Armor. I've sat a whole game in a corner with armor mode on and didn't give me armor xp, you need to take damage in it. Best time is when using Maximum Nanosuit. Stealth ranks ups by being in cloak, this is the easiest as you will need to be in cloak a lot of the time. Power ranks up by running and jumping/sliding.

2) Those red bars are like you said to indicate that an enemy is nearby, this will only show if you have Proximity Alarm equipped. When you rank it up to level 2 and 3 there will be a warning alarm also making it more useful. This is the best Armor module imo until you get Energy Transfer.

I understand where your coming from, Crysis have not provided any information on their website regarding the games mechanics so takes a while to understand everything. They don't even have a listing of all the weapons and their stats.. we have to go to an unofficial website, can't remember the URL, but the diagrams are confusing regarding the damage over distances w/out suppressors and things like that.

Thanks.

I know about the whole module unlock thing and XP gaining, (I mean I am level 40 something, I'm not that much of an idiot), but still, thanks a lot. It's just that some of my friends rebooted and were complaining how their armor is totally weak and their stealth is really quite visible and they can't run as fast as they used to, now that the suit modes are reset to level 1. And... I don't know, I'm still hesitant to totally disregard their statements, especially regarding the amount of time they put into playing this game.

And with the proximity sensor, I'm pretty sure the bars are there and working even with other modules equipped. And the module Proximity Sensor does give you a clanging sound on lvl 1, too, albeit with quite low frequency. I don't know, not sure.

Anyway, thank you.

I think you're friends are complaining about those issues after rebooting because they won't have all their modules and/or upgrades.

I've rebooted 5 times so I know for a fact that Armor & Cloak do not improve no matter what rank it is. Cloak at level 1 is the same as level 12, however your modules do change.
