I think it's a cool feature that they did add timed quests for the ones that should realistically have a dealine. I didnt go to the place to check for any consequences but it was a little plus moment in a night of quite a few fun occurances.
heh get use to those failures. those quest are constant and get really annoying after awhile. Most have got to the point of just ignoring them.
I discovered this just this morning while playing. I was out exploring Pickman Gallery when I got a message that one of my quests had failed. It appears I failed to rescue a settler I was asked to find. It was a welcome consequence of my action/inaction. After all, this is one feature that some of us have repeatedly asked for over the years. I'm glad that Beth listened to us.
It's not neat.
You keep getting a new one when you hand in the old one. So it's a neverending string of quests you have to do in a certain time if you care about failing quests for that faction.
It gets annoying fast, especially when they send you to the Corvega Plant for the millionth time.
I don't see how, it's not like we're discussing the plots and/or endings of any of the quests, only the timing of some of them.
Oh, and rather than making an off topic post which isn't contributing anything to the thread, you may want to consider simply reporting it.
Actually, come to think of it, only the OP references the plotline, so maybe that could be a spoiler of a sort, but the point of timed quests, which is the main point of the thread is not a spoiler.
I am not sure what to think, I don't want to report people, just not the first time in this part of forum, where people tell you something that you did not discover by yourself. Why not post this topic in part of forum where spoilers are allowed? Even if it's not... Again, not sure if this is spoiler or not, just one more thing I did not want to know...
I think it's more about being told about the game mechanics that would have been a pleasant surprise to stumble upon, which obviously it is as it gave the OP compulsion to share that experience.
Fun fact for those who dont know.
If you complete one of those radiant minutemen quests, and just leave it in your log with the objective "talk to Preston", after awhile the quest will simply complete, thus allowing you to get the reward without actually talking to Preston and being forced to take another one.
Oh hey.
Incidentally, if you get a quest directly from the settlers or from Radio Freedom, basically anywhere except Preston, you don't have to turn it in to him. It'll just complete on its own.
Personally, I think this is exactly how timed quests should work. You shouldn't miss out on any unique story elements or one-of-a-kind loot, but there should still be consequences that set you back a ways. Like losing settlers. Not sure how I feel about not being told I'm on a timeline, or when the quest runs out, though. I probably wouldn't even be thinking of it like that though if I wasn't so used to knowing time limits from the quests in Daggerfall.
I thought they failed instead of being completed? I could've sworn that's what happened to me last time I tried to halt these endless quests. I'll do an experiment and not turn it in again.
