Some Hi-Res Concept Art

Post » Wed Dec 15, 2010 6:42 am

I'm pretty sure 99% of you have seen these already. They're from "The Art of Skyrim" video on GI. But you can get a better look at them. Favorite one is the "Riften Fishery"

The one of the map shows 'orc armor' next to it. They say there is a stronger influence on races this time around. Would it be possible certain races have certain armors?

Just a thought, but no I havent seen these. Thanks!

I was thinking the same exact thing. I definitely wouldn't mind races with their own armor type but also other armors/weapons as well. i.e. iron, steel, you know what I mean.

I would only like it if there were lots of other choices as well. I wouldnt mind though if there were some race specific ones.

Orcish armor was in Morrowind and Oblivion, I'd assume that what we're seeing is just Skyrim's version of it.

Anyway, although they're all images that can be seen in the Art of Skyrim video, it's nice to see some larger, still shots of them, doubt there's much about them we can anolyze that we haven't noticed already at this point, though.

Sorry, I'm confused. Are you agreeing with me or trying to say something else?

I agree, orcish and elven armor were in the previous games. I dunno, its just weird to see it called Orc armor, rather than orcish. Probably just looking too deep in to it though.

As to OP, I was agreeing with you. I was just saying that if that were the case, I would still want lots of other choices for armor. It would svck if your Orc could only wear orc armor. Not that I think that would ever be the case.

Wow both of the elven armor concepts are awesome looking.

Also, love the re-design of the Argonians.

Thanks for drawing attention to this, the number of hits my blog gets has gone up by like 1000% since I started posting Skyrim stuff. I should probably start posting some more detailed thoughts from a game design/modding perspective, rather than just "LOOK AT THIS!". :geek:

I captioned the orcish armour as "Orc armour" because that's what it says beneath the art, too, but I assume it's meant to be orcish as in "who made it" rather than "who can equip it".

More Importantly, is that a walrus? It sure looks like one, and walruses say ARF, right?!

Argonian spotted in pic 8. Not very beastly looking, I guess they're sticking to the humanoid form from OB.

Wow really? Personally I think it looks a lot better from OBs design. The tail and head look more pronounced. I like it.

I think so. Walruses DO say "Arf". Maybe a new enemy? I sure wouldn't mind the inclusion of more aquatic life.

I think it looks pretty cool. But you also gotta know that there's a pretty large shadow on him + we can't see his face.

I didn't say I didn't like it. Personally, I prefer humanoid to the beastly style from MW.

I think he was pointing out that they aren't actually sticking to the OB designs. I think this is a happy medium between beastly and humanoid. They won't look too beastly (Like the wonky things from morrowind) and just human enough to pass for being a relative of Humans.

Yeah they are. Beastfolk are descended from Aldmer, which are the first Mer, which Bretons share blood with.

There. Relatives.

And besides, ELVES are human-like, so that means they should still "pass for relatives to humans".

Just because concept art exists doesn't always mean that their contents are confirmed. Where the hell was the Spider Mastermind in DOOM 3?

The walruses might be remakes of the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Creatures#Horkers. Though they do look a bit different than the horkers. Perhaps they are just walruses.
