Some things I noticed in the trailer

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:43 am

Did they cut out some of the dragon fight? It shows Dovahkiin slashing at the dragon but at 1:51 as the dragon crashes Dovahkiin is nowhere in the scene. The dragon was pretty low to the ground so if that was the killing blow, you should see him in the background. If this has been addressed before than forgive me, I just saw it and felt like contributing.

Also, at 1:09 if you look at the bottom of the video it looks like a farm of some sort. Just thought that was neat as well.

They wanted to make the video more epic so they cut out the non action parts. The farm is a nice addition, I hope farms play some kind of role in alchemy.

Yeah but if that cut didn't kill him, they removed some more action. Makes me believe that dragon fights are much longer than some expect. And yeah, I didn't remember seeing anything about the farm so I thought it was neat that I may have discovered something :)

It's just for cinematic effect. There are a lot of notable towns/villages in the trailer. All of which have been discussed in full detail. The "farm" looks more like a dam or monastery to me. Can't imagine people harvesting crops in the snowy mountains of Skyrim.

And that leads you to believe it's a farm?

Well, I see a building with a wall. Let's just say it's a homestead. Good enough for you?

There is a windmill. That means that there is produce being produced...

He's talking about the settlement @1:09 not 1:20 ;)

It's looking like a bridge or a dam with houses around it but certainly not a farm. That is, if Skyrim wants to make sense.

Well, you dont need to nitpick trailer scenes for that. Todd has said dragons are gonna be like boss fights, like fighting Big Daddys in Bioshock...so yeah, difficult.

It's not the biggest image, but it should give you an idea of where it is. You can clearly see the front of a house with what seems like a wall in the background.

Thanks for the screencap. I don't know what that is. I believe IGN also pointed it out during their video anolysis on the trailer.

I'm guessing it's the result of cramming a 15 minute battle into a few short clips.

I've noticed that before when watching the video. From what I can tell it's a house to the left, a small stone-wall right next to the house, and then a bridge-kind-of-thing in the middle.

Edit: About the dragon fighting...
At 1:48 Dovahkiin slashes the dragon in that direction. The dragon must therefore continue to fly and crash in that direction, which is away from where Dovahkiin were. Yet, at the final scene, we see Dovahkiin standing right next to the dead dragon.

So yeah, there's obviously a part missing here. We're missing the part where Dovahkiin ran from the place he made the final blow to the place where the dragon crashed.

Actually its a saw mill. If you pause it, you can see a giant saw blade cutting wood in the open section at the base of the windmill.

edit - scratch that, it looks like it is a large grinding wheel for making flour etc.
