Some Things To Remember

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:24 am

Bethesda has been working on this game for 3 years. It is becoming very near to completion. While I agree with many of your suggestions and proposals to Bethesda, the game is pretty much set in stone right now. Whatever the developers have planned is what is going to be implemented.

Also, Bethesda is not going to go back to any of the Morrowind systems of play, such as dice rolls and text conversations. If anything, this new game will be more catering to the "mainstream" than Oblivion was. Just giving you guys a heads up. I personally liked Morrowind a bit more than Oblivion, so I wouldn't support any of these changes myself.

Oh thank you, I was thinking about making a similar thread. Also, you should gather some weird suggestions and things that will likely never happen and put it here like a FAQ or something explaining why it won't happen. It would decrease the spam.

Good idea. I'll possibly make something like that tomorrow though, because I'll have to take some time to gather these suggestions.

The people who have been making suggestions in the previous suggestion threads are probably more likely to see those ideas come to fruition than the threads that are popping up now. However, many of the threads that are popping up are just rehashed versions of the stuff that has been in previous suggestion threads anyway so no one knows what could or could not have been implemented given the amount of suggestions made thus far.

The bigger problem that I see is people expecting Skyrim to be perfect. They forget there are limitations and they forget that Bethesda has had some serious design flaws in their games that people have not liked. Once those limitations and flaws come to light people are going to be very very disappointed.

This

Over the past years I'm fairly certain that Bethesda has taken at least some of our thoughts into consideration while designing the game. However new ideas now are just too late to be put into the game.

In a mid summer interview this year, Todd Howard stated that they had been working on this game for 2 years. I just rounded up.

Well most of my threads are about suggestions, but i dont have in mind Skyrim only, i have in mind Elder scrolls series in general, and how much it can be improved in the future according the available technology that we have now or it will be in the future, the anancoument of the new game is just the motive

You are certainly correct to say that at this time, the game is too far along to implement most things that fans have suggested, but even had Bethesda not started working on the game yet, just because some fans suggest something does not mean Bethesda will do it, because Bethesda can't possibly try to do everything everyone wants, if they did that, the game might never see release, and if it did, it would be a horrible, inconsistent mess that no one wants to play. It is perfectly understandable for developers to want to please as many players as possible, but there must ultimately be a limit, because trying to please EVERYONE is a good way to please no one. So in the end, suggestion threads are just that, suggestions. They are a place where fans can say what they want in the game, and other fans can discuss it. But even if nothing will come of these suggestion threads, I would say that if people did not post them, there would really not be much to discuss in this forum at this time. Until we have some real information on the game, all we can really do is suggest, and speculate. Once we get some actual information, THEN we can get to praising and criticizing and picking apart every little detail and thoroughly anolyzing its possible implications, and I'm sure we'll see a lot of this once the first actual information about the game gets out.

And as has been said, just because it's too late to implement anything suggested into Skyrim doesn't mean it can't be done in whatever comes next, although when ideas are posted in the Skyrim forums, it might seem to imply that players hope to see them in Skyrim.

In the Podcast he stated he has been working since Oblivion was released.

they still have almost an entire year left, thats enough time to completely scrap something and do something again. you dont have to be so pesimistic. and NOBODY WANTS DICE ROLLs!! most of the stuff we want is easy to implement

No, you are wrong. The only thing they can do now, is tweak and balance the game. And bug fixing.

Other than that they are already far into development, possibly recording voices.

Dice rolls are something common in every game dude, no matter what, there will always be some. And, these stuff would require a lot of changes, one simple stuff can create a bunch of outcomes that would need to be fixed. Kinda like chaos theory.
