Some tips?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:34 am

Well, I just bought the game, and im having a ton of fun blowing peoples brains out, and getting sick from radiation. But I find the game challenging, and its good this way. Its just that, I need some tips surviving, I dont need any tricks or glitches, just a few tips on getting more ammo, or finding caps easyer, or possible some quests that could help me get on my feet?

This just might be because, oblivion never had this "Survive or die" factor this game has, wich is realy great in my oppinion.
Anyway, any help would be awsome.

Im sorry, but im confused, is this the right place to put this?

Or do i put this in the Fallout 3 general discussion?

Ile try there, thanks for ...takeing your time?

Best thing to do is pick a weapons class (ie small arms) and level that up a good amount while choosing perks to max out ur chance of critical damage. Mostly aim for the head, and use the environment to ur advantage. I would almost always recommend exploring a lil and picking up anything worth 30 or more. You can sell scrap metal to the water processor guy (i forgot his name. Walter??) after you fix the leaks around megaton. Raiders are the best in the beginning to kill as they are weak and often carry ammo and have weapons worth lil more then 50 caps. after level 8-10 start hunting super mutants as they carry better weapons and are worth more (~100-170 caps) Hope that helps ya some.

PS dont drink any nuka-cola quantum. Im not gona give any reason why but just trust me. =]

Conserving caps and ammo should outprioritize finding caps and ammo. Enemies have separate hp on their limbs, and if you get those down to zero it will be the same as killing the enemy. If you find that an enemy is taking too much of your ammo then switch to grenades or mines. Use your sneak attack to cause extra damage and conserve ammo. Finally, don't underestimate the power of melee.

There are also two perks which will let you find more ammo and way more caps in containers.

early on i sold everything. scrap metal, bits and pieces. pretty much everything that didn't provide a benefit directly to my person ie. hps or stat/skill buffs. you'll find all that junk again and if you don't you can always buy it back from whomever you sold it to when you've found yourself in a positive cap position. i also repaired equipment i was going to sell. instead of selling 2 junker 10mm pistols, i'd repair one to increase its value.

sometimes its worth it just to keep both damaged weapons.

ie

10mm pistol @ 20% condition = 40 caps

10mm pistol @ 10% condition = 20 caps

after repair

10mm pistol @ 30% condition = 50 caps

thus u lost 10 caps in the process.

mind you these numbers are completely fictional compared to what they are on the game however the mechanics behind it is true. If you do your method its SOLELY to lessen your weight. Thus only repair when you need to free ur self of weight/mass.
