What could cause the difference in the sky between day/night? IE: clear starry nights but yellow skies during the day.

I know RL science doesn't apply but I was just messing around with some sky mods and it got me wondering.

Dust. During the day it reflects the sunlight but the stars don't create enough light to cause distortion.

Sounds reasonable anyway.
