Something I actually do miss from other games

Post » Wed Mar 05, 2014 1:38 am

Maybe I just missed it, but I like being able to preview what something would look like before I buy, loot, trade or craft a piece of armor. Especially if you have more than one style available to you - is the orcish better looking in your opinion than the Altmer? Should you make your bow a Dumer or a Redguard style?

Definitely not a "deal breaker" by any stretch and it may be something I overlooked but it is a feature I definitely missed when I was crafting things

This is something that should be in the game. It doesn't really make sense for them to have these different styles available to choose from, but you don't really know what they look like till you make them lol

From what I understand, you can get these books that give you the option to make any armor or weapon a different racial style. In the beta I got a Breton style book but never used it. But there's nothing you can do about previewing the armor, sadly. So I would just preview the thing either somewhere on the internet or maybe the character creation.

I know...I went from a full leather jack to a relatively skimpy leather halter top on my "ranger" :) I'm not 100% sure its the choice I would have gone for aesthetically if I could have previewed it (I had 3 different crafting styles to play with).

Ah well, at least the game still has an option for hiding the ugly as sin helmets non-heavy armor wearers get stuck with :)

There are already websites which will let you see all the styles in all the materials. Here, for instance: http://wiki.tesotools.com/index.php/Armor

They have filled in some but not all of the combinations, but presumably they'll be done eventually ;)

I agree an in-game preview would be nice though (well, you do get the tiny icons in the crafting screen, but something bigger than that ;) )

During the 2 beta periods I participated in, I thought it was strange there was not a preview window. Hopefully it will be included for launch.

Yeah I definitely approve of this option. I think it was a huge oveesite of zenimax and with its rumoured 200 million US dollar budget, I would have though a staple mmo feature such as that would have been included.

A working Cosmetic system ranks up there with Auction House and Housing in the list of "Every decent MMO needs these things..."

I can live without a cosmetic system (although I do like the one in LOTRO) but just to be able to preview things would be awesome :)

I do agree the ability to preview for items from crafting, vendors, and guild auction houses would be much appreciated.

Guild stores :P No bidding, seller sets the price.

I keep pointing this out because people should be aware that there are no auctions.

I'm sure they have it in mind but they likely are placing greater priority on game stability, animations, PVP lag fix, UI improvements elsewhere. Basically everything that actually seriously affects your game experience. I'm sure that previewing will come in time, but I certainly would rather have them spending their time elsewhere atm.

Dulfy and crew are doing up a fashion site like they did for gw2 and swtor. Just getting started now, but it was the go to sites for those other games. Dude loves his cosmetics....
