Something I dont get about LegendaryUnique Weapons

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 10:10 am

Ok let's say I have a Legendary/Unique 10MM Pistol with a special damage effect.

I can modify it at a workbench so that it has all new mods/parts, so much so that it is lacking any of the original parts.

Now what I want to know is how is it still the same Legendary/Unique If I've basically replaced every part of it? (Reciever, barrel, grip, sights, magazine, Muzzle) Isn't it fundamentally a different gun now? Why does it still have the special damage effect, the Legendary star, or the Unique name?

Same reason it has a Legendary effect like having a bottomless magazine or bleeding damage.

Magic.

Legendary dont mean unique. It mean they have a extra ability. Like more crit or dont need to reload.

Unique ones are Names weapons. Like General Goa ( or something ) sword.

Yep, legendary is definitely not unique, got a stack of safecracker and acrobat legs.

It would be neat if the legendary abilities were fixed to a mod on the weapon or was a separate slot for a retro future tech thing that caused the effect. not all weapons would have slots but you could move the mods around between ones with special slots maybe?

Why can't we scrap legendary items? Some of them aren't as legendary as they'd like to think they are..

I want to scrap them and put the special effect on an item of my choosing.

That's an interesting idea. It's kind of like extracting an enchantment or something.

I just hope one of the patches fixes some of the... questionable legendary loot combinations.

I got a "Ghoul Hunter Gamma Gun" today. Off of a ghoul.

It deals 50% extra damage to Ghouls. Gamma guns deal radiation damage, which don't affect ghouls. 50% of zero is still zero.

So, I basically have a Gamma Gun that I can't break down into parts.

i personally like the effect's until i found a legendary "chameleon leather arm" which makes you invisible while you stand still. Really? The Chinese poured resources, time and money for the stealth suit and i get the same effect from a dirty leather piece i found on a dog? :)

lol.. yeah that was an interesting find. Tried using it on a ghoul after finding and thought "Well, this isn't doing a damn thing". Subtle humor I can appreciate.

This is where you say something sappy like "the legendary was inside YOU the whole time"

Maybe you can just pistol whip the ghouls with it.

@Viper

Ok, I am officially crying I'm laughing so hard. Don't you love how dev's think?

(in a dev meeting)

"Ok, so, in the last couple of Fallout games the whole stealth thing was a suit, etc... ideas for Fallout 4? Anyone...anyone...Bueller?"

"I know! we'll make LEGENDARY abilities like stealth that randomly apply to loot!"

"So, what you're saying is that a player could find a piece of leather armor with a stealth ability because our RNG happened to slap it on that loot item?"

"Correct!"

"And all the loot is RNG anyway for each monster killed...so...a player could find a leather piece with stealth on it on a dog... hmmm... BRILLIANT! Let's do it!"
