Something interesting..well imo.

I was looking up the ebony mail when I noticed that Bethesda took out apart of the quest.

The last part of the quest was to kill the Jarl of Solitude...Elisif.

Why do you guys think they left this out? would've been fun as hell to take on a quest like this without getting caught imo.

Probably has something to do with her role in the civil war.

A; Civil War.
B; We kill too many important figures as it is. Assassinating countless Empire/Stormcloak/etc higher ups and we never get caught, and they never investigate? Meh.

Probably. Especially if the Stormcloaks win, there's a little scene involving her during Ulfric's victory speech. Her steward also has some dialogue explaining why she doesn't get replaced.

I suppose they could have made a scene with her successor (which would have been Erikur  ) instead, the same way for instance Balgruuf is replaced by Vignar in Season Unending if you have taken Whiterun for the 'Cloaks when you get that quest. But maybe they thought that would be too complicated.

Same goes for Balgruuf - original version of Mephala's quest included the possibility to murder him.

Due to the fact she's marked as essential. There are several quests related to her.

It also appears her role in the civil was was changed, given she's not removed regardless what side you take.

Wouldn't matter to me, though. I wouldn't kill her regardless of the circumstance. I like her. She's one of the few Jarls who doesn't treat you like an idiot.
