Something I Missed in the GI Article

Whew. Sure is quiet in here, no new info lately. So whilst I was sitting upon my throne pondering immortality, I decided to pick up that Game Informer from a few a couple of months back that had that one game in it, you know? Skyrim? Yeah, that's the one.

I flipped through the pages and arrived at the part where it talks about dragon shouts. Here it lists a few dragon shout powers; slowing time, a sort of force push and a dragon shout(errr...whisper....) that helps out stealthy players. Then the last one says you'll learn an actual dragon's name as a dragon shout to summon your own dragon to aid you in battle.

For some reason I just never remembered reading that part and no one here has really said much about it. That's pretty neat-o though and sounds like one of the most powerful summons in the game. I wonder if actual conjuration-users will get anything that powerful?

Anyway, I know it's old, I just missed it before I guess. Can't wait for some new screens, info or something. I downloaded Elder Scrolls 1 and 2, along with Quest for Glory 1-4, so I supposed I'll be busy with that whilst I wait.

It does sound cool, to force a Dragon to fight for you, but I assume that will be a late game power. That could just be broken if it was your first shout. Then again, I can get goldbrand in Morrowind at level 3, so maybe not that broken.

ehhh i dont like it. i dont ever use summons so its not that big of a deal but it does make dragons somewhat less epic and powerful if theyre summonable

Unless you can raise it from a little dragling, and the "summon" bit is the dragon flying in from the distance, doing some crazy acrobatic [censored] in the sky, before blasting down on the ground.

Though even then I probably wouldn't use it much. Not a summoner myself either.

I think it would be epic to have a dragon on dragon battle. EPIC.

Maybe something like The Last Guardian where we can become emotionally attached to our dragon and the more we do the more it will do for us?

I think it's just some people who misunderstood Todd Howard, who said that "when I get bored, I'll just summon dragons". What he meant was that, as a game developer, he can pretty much just place monsters at will in the world - a testing world, not the finished one, that is. I doubt you can actually Summon a Dragon - if so, then probably just a Dragonling or similar small-to-medium dragon.

The dragons aren't exactly the friendliest sort.

No, I do recall reading that there was a dragonshout that would allow you to summon a dragon. No misunderstanding Todd Howard.

"And while they’re cagey about the details, Bethesda says that one shout will let a player summon an actual dragon, calling him by name to fight."
