Something is missing!

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:35 pm

Ok Bethesda. Something that I believe should had been added to the game was not added which to me is a real big disappointment. So I just leveled smithing to 100 after about 2 hours of 48 ingame wait hours to buy iron ingots and leather straps to craft iron daggers. I had a good stock of dragonbone and dragonscales in my Whiterun home. So I take the scales and craft myself a legendary dragonscale set for my archer. What remains a mystery to me is, why can we craft armor and WEAPONS for just about every other armor type, but we can't craft WEAPONS out of dragon scales and dragon bones? I want to have a full matching dragonscale set for my archer. I strongly urge you to add some awesome dragonscale/dragonbone weapons into the game to go with the sets. It would also make much more sense to do so. Anyone else agree?

Have you seen some of the weapons in World of Warcraft, that are pretty much made from the bosses you kill? I'm sure Bethesda could make some neat looking weapons with the bones at least.

I don’t see why you couldn’t make weapons from scales? Look at the forsworn swords, they have what looks like animal teeth in them and they’re actually pretty strong. It’s also a Dragon we’re talking about here not some fish. Imagine how tough the scales from one of those monsters must be for them to be able to survive what they do. I think Dragon weapons would be a nice add to the game along with other parts for alchemy like someone mentioned. It’s just the case of it getting done, there are a lot more important things I think Beth is focused on now.

In many MMOs you cant just power level by crafting low level items like you can in Skyrim. With an iron dagger after a while it should give zero experience and you should need to craft something else. To me it seems like little effort was put into the crafting system in Skyrim and if you do it you basically break the game for yourself

I said lore...something last time I checked doesnt compare between games, WOW has its lore, Skyrim its own. And in Skyrim lore maybe dragon bones dont make good weapons.

Grow up, seriously. I brought it up to show that weapons can be made out of bone and scales if you have the creative mind to do so. Yes, I play WoW, you don't like it? Too bad.

Not true at all, I have full legendary dragonscale armor on and I got one shot by an ice mage in some random dungeon. Not gamebreaking at all.

Ok, why do you keep bringing up lore? I'm talking about weapons being made from dragon bones. Have you seen the forsworn weapons made out of normal animal bones, claws, and teeth? I guess not, because they make pretty useful weapons and they do a fair amount of damage. Saying dragon bones wouldn't make good weapons is just stupid.

Why are you even here. Facepalm isn't a very intelligent response. Oh I get it, you're just another WoW hater. If I choose to play WoW, that's my business. I only brought it up to prove a point about weapons. Just leave if you don't have anything to say that's worth reading.

Can't imagine a dragon bone being much use as anything but a club or staff
Dragons fly, so the bones are very likely to be hollow. That greatly reduces what could be done with one.

It might be possible to use a rib to make a katana, but trying to make a battle axe from dragon bones seems like a lot of cobbling together, which would reduce, not increase, the effectiveness.

Of course, I'm not a Tamrielic Materials Engineer. I just know that dragon bones are either made of something relatively close to bone, a normal substance, or unobtainium.

Case 1 implies that dragonbone would fracture when used as a smiting edge.
Case 2 depends on the "known material"
Case 3, no one makes swords out of them, because rich people turned the dragon bone into a wicked set of plates.

Dragon scales and bones cannot be melted down into liquid form to forge weapons.

Dragon scales and bones however, can be welded together with some iron to form a protective armor.

A dragon scale shield would be awesome. Ever seen the movie Dragonslayer? Best movie dragon ever made, and a huge influence I think on Bethesda's dragon design.

I personally have nothing against WoW, but TES is contrary to popular belief NOTHING CLOSE TO WoW. So people seriously need to stop comparing TES to WoW. Why not compare TES to Final Fantasy Online, Maple Story, Hello Kitty Island Adventures, and a tomato...

If you are going to compare TES with another game... why not....hmm a Previous TES game? Cause that's the only thing reasonable to compare it to.

lore is lore and it is strict rules that should always be followed in the game (which bethesda does not follow nearly enough *cough* thentiremagicsystemforskyrim *cough*). that said, no where in the lore does it say dragon bones/scales do not make good wepons so they would make a good addition imo

@heavymetalarchmage, dragons fly using shouts, it has nothing to do with natural prowess and the wings are just for balance, the bone structure has nothing to do with it

If they couldn't be sharpened how would you make armor.

I think weapons out of dragons is a good idea. Don't see why people say no to it. More weapons in the game seems like it should be a yes for sure.

No TES came first, so they copied Betheseda...just like Starcraft was based on the Warhammer 40k universe
and WoW was based on Warhammer

You have obviously yet to run into any forsworn.

Please read my full responses. I didn't compare WoW and TES, I simply compared the attributes of certain weapons in WoW and what they're made of to the possibility of similar weapons in Skyrim, that being weapons made from the remains of dragon bones and scales.
