Something to ponder..

I'm not bashing the game or trying to start an argument. Don't take this too seriously.. but isn't it funny how this: http://www.fourwinds10.com/siterun_data/spiritual/pictures/news.php?q=1254861706 compares to Fallout. It took Hiroshima 64 years to look like that, and the Fallout world still looks like a mix of Hiroshima after the bombs and Detroit. ;)

I live in Detroit.

Does it look like a nuclear wasteland?

The reason why Hiroshima looks the way it does now is for two main reasons:
1. After the war they pretty much had a blank slate to start over.
2. The United States in retribution for doing what we did, help Japan rebuild. With money, materials, and equipment.
Now japan is not only out producing us with products that we, at one time, made the best of. They are also creating newer, and better products and technologies.
As for Detroit...the city is the way it is because it has refused to change. Companies closed, and people were laid off do to the city's industry not adapting to new times. Everyone had been use to the need for product that were produced there for the war effort that when the need ended they didn't know what else to do. They continued to do the same things, and the result is what we see now.
Also, for the record, not all of Detroit is what you see in those pictures. Parts of the city are quite beautiful, and are well taken care of. But the automotive industry is almost completely gone from the city, and thus the city is slowly eating itself.

Well, Hiroshima had a whole planet to help them rebuild, along with Japan being very technologically advanced. The Fallout world has been wiped of everything except a couple hundred people (atleast in the US)
