Okay, heres 3 things wrong with what you said.
1. Theater mode came from HALO not COD, know your origins.
2. A theater mode will not make this game like COD. It's mainly for bragging rights and machinimas. Calm down.
3. It is Wraith! He is the last person to make this game like [censored] of Duty.

Agreed. Any clone will not be as good as the original.

Except maybe Brink's if they come out with one after launch

It'll probably be good or above average but if it isn't in the original designs it may contain flaws. How serious they would be cannot be determined at this point. :spotted owl:

1: I tend to see more Call of Duty videos than Halo. I knew it came from Halo, I just assumed more people used the CoD one so I used that as an example over Halo because everyone was going ape#@*$ over it.
2: That kind of thing annoys me unless they're just trying to show gameplay. I personally dislike Machinima and what it's done to both franchises. But that's just my opinion.
3: I wasn't replaying just to Wraith, but to the thread in general. I find no reason or purpose to single any one of you out. He seems like a good man as do most of the people I see on this forum.
4: What's wrong with using Fraps, or Xfire for that matter?

The reason for my general displeasure towards this kind of thing is because I don't want Brink to remind me of the Call of Duty or Halo franchises. Sure I've had my fair share playing both, but they're all seeming to run together, and I want something new. So far, Brink has fit the bill and I do not want that to change.

In my point of view, it takes away from the general gameplay. Before, you have people playing to have fun and to win. After, you have people that are trying to make Machinimas. I don't know, it seems like I encounter these people more and more, and so far (as far as I've seen) they do not care about the game or even winning for that matter; they seem to care more about completing their montages and random knife / hatchet throws, or their 'ridiculous crazy awesome' killstreaks.

EDIT: Needless to say, this kind of gameplay is disheartening.

Machinima is when people use the game as a medium to make a movie, using a script. The silly montages that are hosted by machinima.com are not the same thing.

This basically proves that I dislike it to the point of not knowing a whole lot about it. Might seem arbitrary, but that's the way it is, unfortunately. My statement still stands, when people do this, they stop caring about actual team play and more about themselves. And this game IS based on pure team play, is it not?

Well there's those people and then there's other people who make series, walkthroughs, and gameplay videos with great commentaries

The game has singleplayer and co-op as well. If players wanted to make machinimas they would most likely do it there, without ruining other peoples game.

It's just the fact that this game emphasizes team play, and I desperately want to see it happen. The use of squads like in the Battlefield franchise really turned me on to team game play; to the point of where helping your teammates is absolutely necessary to win, in which Battlefield succeeded in doing. The squad-based game play really immersed me. I'd really like to think of the 8v8 teams as two larger squads (8 man squads), but it's hard when one person isn't helping.

Let's hope so, Capt.
I mean, I'm going to play the campaign first anyways. I believe everyone should.

That's like saying "I dont like hockey because I went to hockey.com and they only had videos of people being hit in the nuts by a puck....people shouldn't be trying to do that."

You're saying you dont like something when you have no idea what it is, then saying youre not interested in finding out what it is because you dont like it. Its compltely circular logic with no basis other than your own misunderstanding.

The compilations you have a problem with, the ones with all kinds of different kills, have nothing to do with Machinima other than the fact that Machinima.com hosts the videos. Machinma itself is just a medium for people to apply their script, instead of acting it out themselves. Its a form of amateur film, done in private rooms.

I repeat, you have a problem with pointless compliations, not scripted machinima.

I realize I was wrong about what Machinima was, but like I said, people still play differently because of it.

Repost of what I said earlier, seeing as it will probably get overlooked.

Call me crazy. But I wish I knew a way to tell the makers of them game my idea. They need to have a theater mode like Halo 3 because think about all the machinima's, movies, montages, and countless other types of videos you could make with all this customization. I just don't want to see it all go to waste. Just get some way to record and edit our games. Because I mostly play games to make movies because thats my passion. I've been waiting for this game since day one. I think it looks absloutely mind blowing. I just hope that there is a theater mode in store. So we can make awesome videos with all the customization and S.M.A.R.T Technology in our hands.

Ok, don't mean to be a [censored] here, but really, just look on the other pages, there are literally countless topics on this. If you really want to record, buy a camera/capture card. And no offense, but i don't think you've been following "since day 1". I admit that I haven't, but I've been here longer than most.
Also, I'm pretty sure the developers have gone through the production process, so they have to have considered this idea before. It's not like they'll see this post, then say "Oh my goodness, I never thought of this! We should implement it right now!"

Again, sorry for being a [censored], I'm normally not, it just makes me angry that these forums are basically people saying "implement this" or "get rid of this". We should all relaz, the devs know what their doing.

Yea, plus CoD's theatre mode compared to Halo's theatre mode svcks imo :ermm:

Really? I don't know the Halo-Theatre mode, but itsn't it just basicly a free-fly spectator thing?

Whereas the COD-thing apparently has a dolly-cam now?

1: I tend to see more Call of Duty videos than Halo. I knew it came from Halo, I just assumed more people used the CoD one so I used that as an example over Halo because everyone was going ape#@*$ over it.

Funny thing is, that rarely any COD-player uses the COD-theatre-mode properly. They treat it like a replay-viewer, which is just the simplest superficial function of it.

4: What's wrong with using Fraps, or Xfire for that matter?

Fraps and Xfire are for capturing videos. They do not allow you to freefly around the map or get into every players perspective or create dolly shots.

Machinima.com really turned into some big pile of omgwtfbullcrapoverload. Their name origins from the early days when they were hosting only proper machinimas. In the ages of virgin Youtube and before.

Yea, but Halo is basically screenshots and episode series, unlike CoD which is basically just for gameplay videos (or that's what I think?). But now Halo seems more like screenshots then any other because Rooster Teeth, even though they still use the cam mode part, they have started animating it. If Brink had one though I could see awesome series, great gameplay videos, and even some sweet screenshots.

I was just thinking about this. I would love a theater mode. Mainly because it would make for some awesome clan shots/etc. Where as just using a capture card leaves the photographer out of the picture... and that's not fun :/

plus with theater mode, we'd be able to get some sweet action shots/poses, etc.

It would just be a great added feature. Pretty sure it won't be in release, but man, it would be awesome if they could patch it in!
