Something that makes you laugh when play oblivion ?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:52 am

Yesterday I started a new character. I was going through Fort Ash with two Imperial Legion Soldiers on horses right next to me, and the highwayman bandit still tried to mug me on the other side. I had to get out of the way so I wouldn't hit a soldier by mistake as they killed him. Stupid cat.

Later, I was heading to Anvil and the exact same thing happened with the highwayman there.

Like other people have said, it has to be the NPCs. They have such a comedy element, but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment or immersion in the game, it actually adds to it!

The conversations they have with each other and your character, even their obsession with mudcrabs, their strange appearance sometimes or their little daily routines. I get a laugh every time I play Oblivion thanks to the NPCs.

NPC lines and dialogues - two sisters at Aleswell, Owyn the Arena Blademaster, and on top of everything Lord Rugdumph who had me hysterically laughing for hours. That's just to name a few, but really there are so many fantastic NPCs in Oblivion - the writers must have been high on skooma when they wrote Oblivion dialogues. Also, some hilarious unique items, such as Amulet of Interrogation (+H2H, +Speech), Rugdumph's sword which has been in his family for generators - his whole quest did to me exactly just what the sword does (Silence, Absorb Speechcraft). All in all, no game has ever made me laugh so hard and frequently as Oblivion does.

Absolutely!

It's funny, like i used to notice this a lot more in the beginning, Sean bean having a dialog with Sean Bean. Or Wonder Woman insulting Wonder Woman. :D I'm at the point (after playing for several years) that I barely notice this anymore. This is "normal" to me,

and if two real-life people started talking to each other in the same voice, I might not even notice it at first. :touched:

My favorite combo is the Amulet of Interrogation + the Truncheon of Submission (Restore Health + Damage Fatigue). Fun for days!

I have to agree with an earlier post: Watching two Imperial Foresters shooting each other full of arrows is rather amusing. They look like pincushions after a while.

The guards always crack me up, too. "You should have PAID THE FINE!!!" They're as hammy as Dremora are.

And, of course, NPC conversations can be comedy gold at times.
