Good chance this will be their last game with the Gamebryo engine and will get their new engine working in time for either the next Fallout game or Elder Scrolls game... I mean I think the average lifespan of an engine is maybe 3 years, they're about 2 years overdue .-.

Sorry...thats rubbish...it could handle animation changes etc....J.E.Sawyer himself said ,they re-animated the cazadore, different from the bloat fly.
It can be done,it just requires more time & effort.
And how do you explain all the mods with different animations like dancing etc...i could go on & on.....its not the engine!

your idea is'nt dumb...some people are just one trick ponys,& are'nt as open minded, but that does'nt mean their wrong.
But i like the idea, would be more entertaining & would'nt ruin/break the game at all.
I know people who have lost limbs in war & survived to tell the tale, everyone is different, not everyone goes into shock, not everyone faints,& not everyone feels the pain the same way...& some people know what to do in situations like that till help arrives etc..its not as simple as black & white.
Even if they were only alive for a few minutes longer etc,you could still see the effect of it...& it would make it more immersive or satisfying to some people.
Just my view

I don't know, look at the Source Engine. Still going strong after nearly seven years.

Reminds me of Soldier of Fortune(the very first one). I think shooting a guy in the stomach repeatedly with the pistol would cause an enemy to roll around and scream for like 20 - 30 secs for a death animation. But you could always put him down with another shot to the head.

This topic is a good idea :celebration: , I don't believe the violence in the 3D fallouts captures the "brutality" of a wasteland as well as they could.

Indeed, I believe a nice random encounter type would be finding someone with his legs blown off crawling 2 safety, screaming for help, and eventually dies from blood loss while trying to get away from some awful place...
and really some enemies are insane enough to keep shooting at you even with an arm or leg shot off... in fact im sure it would just piss alot of them off...
if anyone wants a strategic reason why this should be in, a guy with his arm shot off can't use a rocket launcher, minigun, or any big weapons... while smaller weapons like the assault rifle could still be used but accuracy lowered alot...

I'm pretty sure you would go into shock, be unable to do anything except fall to the ground and quickly die of blood loss

For humans, I think that you're about right, certainly, someone whose arm got severed probably wouldn't continue fighting, and would most likely die from blood loss without receiving quick medical attention, still, I could see this being reflected in a special death animation where instead of just instantly dropping dead, enemies who died from severed limbs could fall to the ground, move around a bit while bleeding from the wound, and then go into limp ragdoll mode. We still wouldn't get people with severed arms running around shooting at you, but it would at least help to avoid the issue common in games where any lethal wound causes you to instantly drop dead, even if it's the kind that in real life really would result in a slow death. Also, while a severed limb might not just be a flesh wound for a human, I could see some types of enemies being able to continue fighting even after losing one or more limbs, after all, not all enemies are structured the same way as humans, and the same injuries wouldn't always effect them in the same way.

So I'd say it's not necessarilty a bad idea, but I certainly know it won't happen in New Vegas, it could in the future game, though.

It is deffinentally something I would like to see in future fallout games when a new engine is used.
