Song that has to be in Fallout

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:14 am

I might be one of a kind in this regard, but to me the whole radiostuff was somewhat off -- musically speaking (there's nothing really off in having a radiostation). The songs fit with the theme, no doubt, but it kinda always felt strange that they were only playing songs that were well over 100 years old already when the Great War was happening. And when Three Dog and Mr. New Vegas were operating their stations, the songs were about over 300 years old. Was there no more music made after the 50's?

It's problematic, also, in that current day pop and rock music won't fit in at all, and making up a whole set artists and "50's inspired retrofuturistic" music genres and songs can be quite a task.
I'm in that club. :foodndrink:

Could take a page from Fallout New Vegas, and have J.E Sawyer write and preform songs for Fallout 4
I prefer the actual old timey music. Sawyer has a lovely voice, but nothing compares to the real thing.

So Blue was also a song made recently.

@GreatKhan16 A Kiss to Build a Dream On was the intro track for Fallout 2. Too bad it wasn't heard again on the radio like Maybe was.

A nice mix of music. Fallout 3 took the first step with Agatha's song, which is the station I like the most in Fallout 3. New Vegas had the songs of the Lonesome Drifter by J.E. Saywer. I really enjoy the addition of wastelanders making their own music in Fallout. A radio station that plays music preformed by wastelanders, along with songs from the 1930s 40s 50s would be awesome IMO.

Actually, Most of the songs in Fallout are from the 1940's and 30's. The 60's could arguably fit.

It's just the 50's attitude.

And you call yourself a Fallout expert!

Styles is the god of Fallout.

I think that song is from 1967, so it wouldn't be used for Fallout. The songs used in Fallout are ones during or before the 1950s.

Also a topic just for one song? seems pointless to me.

Frank Sinatra was obviously making songs and was still alive then, therefore he could have easily still made this song.

I'd enjoy hearing some Johnny Cash, mainly Walk The Line and Folsom Prison Blues.

I saved three of his albums to my hard drive just so I can hear Johnny Cash as I walk New Vegas.

I'd say that Billie Holiday's version of Gloomy Sunday is one song that should really be added to a Fallout playlist.

Why does all the music have to be 50-60s specific?
As if no musicians made any music past the 60s.
There should be varying stations, with different styles of music.

I find that early Neil Young makes for some very suiting tunes while traveling the wastes.
Not tryn to diss Mr. New Vegas(Wayne Newton was perfect, cmon the real Mr. Vegas... Amazing) but there should have been more.

I also think it's all about style. Dates are completely unimportant. 'I'm Moving Out' and 'Goin' Under' are both new songs, not classics, and they're two of my favorites on F:NV. It's about sounding like they belong more than being released before X date. In NV, only about 1/3 of the songs (15) were 'classics', the rest were new songs by lesser-known artists.

They could always, say, hire Trent Reznor to make music for FO. Instrumental.
