Songs that bring tears to your eyes

Post » Fri May 09, 2014 4:11 am

Now I don’t usually cry or even show that much emotion, just not how I was raised, but every ?once in a while, when I am alone and a sappy song comes on the radio, it brings tears to my ?eyes. Happened just this morning when I was in the car listening to some oddball radio station.
?
Now don’t laugh, but the song that made me cry today was Delta Dawn, which I learned from Google was released in 1972 by Tanya Tucker. I could've sworn it was Dolly Parton, but I could not find evidence of a Dolly Parton version anywhere. Anyway, I had heard this song a ?million times growing up. My parents used to torture me with their country music, and Delta Dawn was a big hit back in the day. Never ?thought twice about it before, but for some reason the song just struck a chord with me this morning and next thing ?you know I had tears in my eyes.?

What songs bring tears to your eyes??

From head:

"The Best Is Yet To Come" from Metal Gear Solid.

"Block Out The Sun" by Sevendust.

"Continued Story" by Hitomi Kuroishi. Though it was maybe more touching because of Code Geass ending.

"Amaryllis" by Shinedown

Well, maybe not tears but sad smile

Considering the Ending brought me tears of Rage, this sad tune just rubs it in.

I've never even played Mass Effect and I lol'd.

Never really had any piece of music bring me to tears... I guess the closest would be Shinedown's cover of "Simple Man". That one just makes me feel guilty, because my mother absolutely loves that version and said that if there's one song she wanted to be played at my wedding, it's that one. But I've never had an interest in marriage and have no intention of getting married, just not what I want in life. So ever since she told me that, I always feel this little twinge of guilt whenever I hear it.

Also, this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_twMu3HGaw called "A place in heaven".

One Headlight by the Wallflowers - i had a very close friend who loved the song, and she knew me pretty much as good as anyone could. Other than my wife, I really haven't felt as close to someone as I did to her. The circumstances of her death were very tragic and I took it very very hard. This was her favorite song and I don't know why, but whenever I hear the song, the lyrics pretty much describes how I felt in the months in the wake of losing her. I can't get through the chorus without breaking. (though when you learn about the song, it was an artistic expression of something completely different, not the death of a friend)

Don't Want to Miss A Thing by Aerosmith - so this is a more positive affect, but I've always just loved the song because I thought it was beautiful. Now that I have a daughter on the way, I can't wait to sing it to her.

Wings For Marie/10,000 Days by Tool - just an awesome song. Written by Maynard James Keenan as a ballad to his late mother.

Finally, a song I have actually heard! I was beginning to feel so old, as if getting teary eyed to a 1972 hit I heard as a child about someone getting old and dying wasn't enough to make me feel old.

Yes, I can totally see getting teary eyed by Jakob Dylan. Saw his infamous father in concert once and it was amazing.

I may have to check out some of the other songs in this thread to broaden my musical horizons.
