Sony's Next Console Is In Development

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 4:37 pm

Yes. I hate the PS controller. It was fine... in 1995. it just feels awkward next to a 360 controller, especially for FPS games.

I hate the 360 controller :yuck: it feels too big when compared to the Dual Shock.

Anyway on topic, I'm happy Sony said they'll be more careful with the PS4's price :D I jsut hope the next console cycle isn't rushed though. I'm mroe than happy to wait a couple years until I get a new console.

Terrible for the games industry if that were true, I'm thinking more like 2 or 3 years left on this gen. I know they were pushing that "10 year lifespan" thing, but I don't think that plan will last.

Ten-year lifespan isn't really that much of a stretch. PS2s and PS2 games were still being produced for years after the PS3 was released, just as PS1s and PS1 games were still being made years after the PS2. Lifespan doesn't necessarily mean it's the company's only console on the market.

If it was just going to be like the PS2, then why specifically mention it? I'm pretty sure they're trying to delay the next gen as long as possible, maybe to keep a steady supply of console sales.

They're obviously working on the new consoles, I just hope they don't finish the design and sit on it for a few years until they're ready to make it public.

Why not mention it? It's a good sales pitch, makes it seem like a long term investment. Especially since the PS3 was running for $600 when it first came out.

When Sony first announced that "10 year lifespan" I laughed. I'm starting to think they were serious.

Of course they are, the PS2 is on it's 11th year now and new games are still being released for it. Very few games, and pretty much shovelware, but new games nontheless.

After all the huge costs of developing the 360 and PS3, both Microsoft and Sony have had to wait to develop a new console. They had to get back in the black.

Hmm, I actually prefer the Playstation controller compared to the Xbox controller, Xbox one just feels so bulky and unwieldy.

Thats because compared to the Dual Shock, it is big. I like it better for long term use, its very palm fitting and its buttons are easy to reach.

I will probably be buying which ever one is cheaper, I want a new SONY console but they are just so damn expensive. The only reason I would buy a new one is because I know all my friends are going to buy one and in order to play online with them I have to buy one. Which svcks. But I am very happy about new consoles.

I hope Sony does something new and exciting with the new console. Like make it black and shiny.

I have a PS3, I'm happy with it and trust sony to let it live out the remainder of it's years and learn from it. This announcement doesn't excite me much, I know it's a long way away. I'll probably be half cyborg by the time its out.

I'm not happy about this news but I'm also not surprised. Hopefully Sony learns from their past mistakes and makes the next transition to the new console better then the PS2 did to the PS3, The same goes for Microsoft as well.

The only thing I can think of about the PS4 is like Nintendo Project Cafe, other then streaming (whatever streaming is) I don't think there will be any differance compared to the PS3 as far as graphics and games.

Yea, it's not going to ship with a better processor, GPU, and more RAM.

At least you can rest assured that whatever the new name is (most likely it will simply be "PS4"), it will not be as ridiculous as "Project Cafe"

Project Cafe isn't the console name, it is the development project name. All companies use silly project names.

I actually disagree :P imo the 360's controller isn't ergonomic at all and it's too bulky as I said. But a lot of people liek the 360's controller so I think I'm in the minority

I love the duel shock, best controller for a game system imo and im glad sony hasnt changed it with their consoles. I dislike the 360 one too btw, but I use it on my pc because its easier to jstu plug and play with games. Though I do use the ps controller for some games...

I very much doubt they will make the same mistake twice and make it very expensive. Especially when they seen how successful Nintendo been at re-releasing the GameCube hardware with new controllers while overcharging for it.

I'm not happy about this news but I'm also not surprised. Hopefully Sony learns from their past mistakes and makes the next transition to the new console better then the PS2 did to the PS3, The same goes for Microsoft as well.

Agreed, the transition between the PS2 and PS3 svcked. Removing the PS2 BC from the PS3 was idiotic. Hopefully the PS4 will be backwards compatible with the PS1, PS2 and PS3 during it's whole lifetime.
