Soo annoying...

I'm trying to download a mod called "unnecessary Violence" The problem is, is that it has so many freeking requirements. I think ive successfully downloaded the unnoficial patch.. It also wants me to download OBSE, NifSE and Pluggy. I followed instructions, ive read the readme's. I cant seem to get it to work... I get the menus at the beginning to work when I open the game in OBSE, but after I do that, still, nothing works... Can someone direct me to a guide or something? Not a FAQ please.. an FAQ wont be much help to me...

It's possible you may need to install the older version of NifSE which is NifScript. You should be able to find it on the same TESNexus page.

Also the author of UV wants his users to read the manual and if you haven't done so the game won't start properly.

Do I put the folder content into the oblivion folder, or the data folder inside the oblivion folder?

Seems specific enough for me:

[ Installation ]

If you are using a retail (non-Steam) version of the game:

1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_loader.exe to your Oblivion directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder, and should contain files called "Oblivion.exe" and "OblivionLauncher.exe".
2. Run oblivion by running obse_loader.exe from the Oblivion directory.

If you use a desktop shortcut to launch Oblivion normally, just update the shortcut to point to obse_loader.exe instead of oblivion.exe.

If you are using the Steam version of the game:

1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion".
2. OBSE will automatically be run along with Oblivion when launched. To disable this, rename or move obse_steam_loader.dll. You do not need to use obse_loader.exe unless you are running the editor.

Ok. so that is the main folder? not data?

Do I put the loader into the file also..?

I use Steam so this doesn't apply to me.

Insanity Sorrow created an OBSE installer to install it for you if you're still having trouble. http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/455-obse-installer/ :foodndrink:

Ok. This is what I am doing, point out anything I am doing wrong.

Download and Extract obse_0018
In the obse_0018 folder, I copy: obse_editor_1_2.dll, obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_steam_loader.dll, and obse_loader.exe
I paste them in C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

Then I Download and extract NifScript_0_90-21292
I go into C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Oblivion mods\NifScript_0_90-21292
(oblivion mods is my folder name)
Then I copy: obse and paste it into C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data

Tehn I download and Extract Pluggy_v125b-23979
I copy: OBSE_Elys.Pluggy.dlx and OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll
I paste them in C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data

Do you see any flaws?

Pluggy goes in C:\.....\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins The folder will more than likely not exist, if it isn't there, create it.

Nifscript might go there too, but, I couldn't swear to it.

3. INSTALLING
===========================

Extract "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dlx" and "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll" to "Oblivion Install Directory\Data\OBSE\Plugins". If you don't have an "..\OBSE\Plugins" directory, create one.

Also...

1. UV require Pluggy HUD version, so you will have to rename OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll to OBSE_Elys_Pluggy_Hud.dll (explained in the UV/pluggy readme's)
2. You should install NifSE in addition to NifScript, it will fix some bugs and save game bloat (explained on the NifSE/NifScript download page on tesnexus)

Such a complicated install for someone sounding like they just started in on this mod install thing.

I was told Pluggy HUD is/can be conducive to CTD. My http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119678-kuertees-battle-fatigue-and-injuries-hud-install-confusion/asked how to rename the hud dll since I was not allowed to do so.

Can't you use OBMM or Wrye Bash to install this mod instead of doing the manual copy/paste (which makes it harder to uninstall)?

It is not THAT complicated, all it require is reading the install instructions.

I was told Pluggy HUD is/can be conducive to CTD. My http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119678-kuertees-battle-fatigue-and-injuries-hud-install-confusion/asked how to rename the hud dll since I was not allowed to do so.
That is my understanding too, it even says so in the readme.
Regarding the rename, you just rename it to enable the HUD functions in addition to the normal functions. So no need for what you tried to do by having both installed.

Can't you use OBMM or Wrye Bash to install this mod instead of doing the manual copy/paste (which makes it harder to uninstall)?
Actually I think it is a good idea for people to install their first few mods manually, it will give them a idea of where files go, and more important.... get them used to RTFM.

My issue in that thread was it would not allow me to rename.

I tried renaming but upon trying to start the game I received a pop up box saying I can't rename it, so I tried copying elsewhere, renaming it, then putting it back into the folder. Another pop up said it detected HUD and non HUD and only can use one.

I don't know how you managed to rename it.

I'm not sure why, I never had a problem with it. But consider yourself better off not being able to, I don't recommend it. Pluggy is fine with just the text functions active but a problem if it tries to do anything involving graphics. By not renaming it, you're keeping it as just a text tool, which is what it does best.

Bumping your thread after ten minutes? That's considered pretty rude on these forums. Be patient, please.
