Well I finally got around to getting money out of the taxman.. and after pestering a number of people (shout out to Crimson, Evo and SDub) Im going to build my first comp as the 2 year old non gaming comp: Dell Inspiron dual core pentium with 2gb ram really doesnt run crysis2 all that well

(ok after hearing that take a moment to pick yourself up off the floor)

Had thought long and hard about a water cooled beast, but think it might be just a bit too ambitious for a first timer thankyou though to crimson who took the time to discuss it with me.

Thanks to Evo and Sdub for advice + friend who is going to be back up as i put it together...(nice to have the support im bribing him with gourmet pizza haha)

it got picked, then tweaked by SDub and then tweaked again, so I was confident that the specs were good

I'm like a kid waiting for xmas! Calling it my 21st again present to myself haha.. literally spent every cent the taxman gave back have a 23" monitor coming in from elsewhere because an 18" (i think ?) is also a nightmare

Awesome congrats!! Love your choices! I used my tax money to build a PC and your's is pretty identical to mine. I have the Antec DF85and SLI 560's and those are really the only differences.

By the way I would prefer the 6950 it's a similar price but slightly faster and more power-efficient

been playing fps online since UT first came out, played heretic/hexen as single players before that, played mmogs for awhile, did grab left 4 dead 2 for zombie slaying but saw son playing crysis 2 and had to have, loads of fun even if i was horribly rusty... slowly improving though

I did consider the DF85, but thought that might be too big, son is running a DF30 and it looks large enough. Intending to throw in another card later but pretty much just wiped out the bank balance so thats on my "to do list" after a new keyboard.

yeah the Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB Dirt3 Edition was on my original list, the benchmark stuff we looked at had them pretty much neck and neck seemed only red team vs blue team type of stuff

its ok, I had to learn, we all do... and i got a lot of good advice. Some of the stuff i just learnt about 2 days ago and I still blank when people start talking specs so i have to ask silly q's or look it up and try and make sense of. Learning is fun though
