Soon will begin first play through...

Okay so I am late to the party, about to do my first run in skyrim...

currently on my 3rd oblivion build, final run for a while (just got the DLCs so I want to experience the entirety of oblivion before skyrim)

things I am noticing though that I am still doing on my 3rd run in oblivion, money glitching...it is just a chore to make legit money fencing stolen stuff, questing for next to no coin...but I don't want to cheap the experience when it comes to Skyrim...I want to really almost role play it in a sense...

I am just basically asking for heads up tips on what to hang onto, early items that are needed later, what to save for later, what are the best ways for making money to max out your time so I don't feel like I am jerkin my gerkin while goin through the quests.

I want to be able to have coin to purchase some nice things for myself such as spells as potions as needed...

will there be points where I without a doubt will be stretched thin or is it possible to avoid, I know a lot of times with these games you have to limp along until you get the reward of a weapon that then makes up for all the hard work...

anyway thanks in advance, just wanted to get a taste of what to look forward to doing!

If you need money, you can always take out a camp or two, or do a random side quest that will net you a couple of hundred septims. If you can get into alchemy you can always get hundreds from that.

Ther's not really many points in the game your short of money, it's always good to have hold of smithing supplies if you want to improve your weapons btw

money grows in trees in Skyrim. No joke. my hunter has just from hunting and selling pelts and potions, about 30,000 in coin. More then enough to buy anything she would need. A lot of my higher lv characters have over 300,000.

What are you playing on? Console or PC.

Armor, Weapons, Potions, Jewelry, and Gold. I play Mages and Hybrids that pay for Training in Skillls that do not get used often. My characters are poor, because Training a Skill is a Money Sink. I use the Training to keep My characters from getting a ridiculous amount of Gold at higher levels. I could easily have a very wealthy character by placing a few Perks in Speechcraft, but I have never bothered because I get training from NPC's that are also Merchants.

Merely selling the loot from one dungeon alone can sometimes net you thousands of Gold. After a couple of dives, you'll likely be full of enchanted gear, most of the times useless to you but worth a lot of coin.

And there is always Alchemy. You don't even have to make it a main skill and put points into. Just pick up any ingredients you can while adventuring and make potions when you can. They can really stack up and sell for a decent price.

Since this is will be your first run, I don't really want to give any other tips that may disrupt your experience. This is an RPG, after all. Learning through Trial is always the best.

we all have our own way to start this game and they all have fun

just start the game and go along , i would follow hadvar tho insteadf of that stormcloak because it gives you some extrza ingots to play with early

without trying to spoil it follow the flow of the game till you arrive in whiterun after that you can do whatever you want talk to npc s some of them are a wealth of info and can give you small quests that will help you along

you didn't say what platform you are using but ig you are on pc you might want to mod the game starting the unoffical patches , first after your first few weeks you might want to add some more improvements and content

further more do not ponder about what race to take the racial abilities only help early in the game , mid level ( around level 15 to 20 ) they become obsolete and useless

nor ponder on what is the perfect build a imperfect character is much more fun than a metagaming charéacter that does max dps 3 digits after the decimal

anyway have fun , be epic but most of all enjoy

That doesnt really help now, does it? Anyway, loot for me has always been a good source, if slow, but thats how i start, also cave diving, containers that have even small amounts of gold have gotten me in the thousands. There are numerous ways of gaining money, some less than "fair" and shall be avoided by me seeing as is your first playthrough, i will say, for me it was very enjoyable to find my own way in making money.

Edit: Dragon Claws, not off dragons but for dungeons, save the Dragon Claws.

Edit 2: also save Named and enchanted masks, i will not get into details, unless you know of what i am referring.

People in the settlements always need an adventurer to recover their lost items in caves. You can get a lot of rewards doing that :P

Join the TG as well - they have some repeatable jobs available.
